Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Agronomist with deep expertise in crop and soil science to join our team in Lm ng. This role will play a key part in improving farming outcomes for smallholder farmers through scientific fieldwork, training, and data-driven agronomic support. You will also contribute to the development of our farm management AI tools by guiding our models with real-world crop science insights and feedback from the field.
This is a mission-driven role for someone who wants to see their work directly impact farming livelihoods and food systems.
Key Responsibilities
Field-Based Agronomic Leadership
- Conduct on-farm assessments and diagnostics, especially related to soil health, nutrient management, pest/disease issues, and crop planning.
- Guide smallholder farmers on implementing sustainable and profitable best practices tailored to their crop and environment.
- Help validate new crop varieties and farming protocols through on-site trials and structured observation.
Product & AI Development
- Provide the agronomic science backbone for our in-house farm management app (Crop-IQ).
- Collaborate with our tech and data science teams to translate field observations and crop cycles into predictive insights, diagnostic tools, and AI models.
- Recommend data points to be captured for improving decision-support systems (e.g. fertilizer recommendations, early warnings).
Supplier Network & Sourcing Support
- Advise sourcing teams on optimal sourcing areas based on soil/crop suitability, and support onboarding of new growers.
- Contribute to crop variety trials and selection to improve quality and reduce supply chain risks.
Training & Capacity Building
- Develop training materials and host workshops or 1-on-1 coaching with farmers and sourcing staff.
- Support internal upskilling of DHFs sourcing and quality teams on technical agronomy topics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor&aposs or Masters degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on agronomy experience in Vietnam.
- Strong understanding of smallholder farming systems, especially in vegetables or specialty crops.
- Demonstrated experience working in field settings, preferably in Lm ng province or similar highland climate zones.
- Ability to analyze and interpret field data and translate it into actionable recommendations.
- Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (e.g. tech, sourcing, QA).
- Fluent in Vietnamese; working English is a plus.
