Senior Accountant

Due to business expansion, we are actively seeking for a Senior Accountant for the Finance Department to be based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This role reports to the Head of Accounting, VN.

Role & Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the company's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting renewable energy project accounting. The role plays a critical part in month-end closing, statutory reporting, tax compliance, budgeting, and financial analysis to support business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & General Accounting

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with VAS and IFRS.
• Manage the general ledger, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing activities.
• Ensure accurate recording of revenue, expenses, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
• Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations to management.
• Maintain accounting records and support documentation in compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.

Renewable Energy Project Accounting

• Account for renewable energy projects throughout development, construction, and operational phases.
• Monitor project costs, capital expenditure (CAPEX), and operating expenditure (OPEX).
• Track construction-in-progress (CIP) balances and facilitate capitalization of assets upon commercial operation date (COD).
• Manage depreciation and asset accounting for renewable energy projects.
• Support project financing transactions, loan drawdowns, and debt servicing accounting.

Tax & Regulatory Compliance

• Prepare and review VAT, CIT, FCT, and other statutory filings.
• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and accounting requirements.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors and regulatory authorities.
• Support tax audits and statutory inspections.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis

• Assist in annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
• Monitor project and corporate budgets against actual expenditures.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve profitability and cost efficiency.
• Support investment analysis and management reporting.

Audit & Internal Controls

• Coordinate annual external audits and internal audits.
• Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure adherence to internal control policies and corporate governance standards.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.

Treasury & Cash Management

• Monitor cash flow and liquidity requirements.
• Support cash forecasting and working capital management.
• Assist with banking relationships and financing activities.
• Review and process payments according to company policies.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with project development, engineering, operations, procurement, and legal teams.
• Support management with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests.
• Coordinate with external auditors, lenders, investors, and regulatory bodies.

Ideal candidate should possess;

Education

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.

Experience

• 5+ years of accounting and finance experience.
• Experience in renewable energy, power generation, infrastructure, energy, or project-based industries is highly preferred.
• Experience with project accounting, fixed asset accounting, and financial reporting.
• Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central).

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of VAS, IFRS, and accounting principles.
• Knowledge of renewable energy project lifecycles and project financing structures.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
