Develop and refine restraint system models, correlating with physical test data to ensure accurate prediction of occupant safety performance.
Provide technical input into airbag system design and integration, working closely with design and test engineers.
Support the definition of safety targets and validation plans for airbag systems in line with program objectives.
Analyse and report simulation results, identifying potential risks, issues, and opportunities for system optimization.
Contribute to continuous improvement of safety CAE methodologies and best practices within the team.
Collaborate closely with international teams to ensure alignment across safety CAE activities and deliverables.
Requirements
Degree/Qualification:
Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related fields.
Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive safety engineering, with a strong focus on CAE and airbag simulation.
Experience
Hands-on expertise in safety-related CAE simulations, specifically in occupant restraint systems and airbag deployment performance.
Strong understanding of finite element modelling (FEM) and simulation methods for airbag modules, including frontal, side, curtain, and knee airbags.
Familiarity with occupant injury criteria, crash test dummy models, and regulatory/safety performance requirements (Euro NCAP, ECE, US NCAP, IIHS, FMVSS).
Experience in using CAE tools for safety and restraint simulations.
Ability to validate simulation results with physical test data and refine models to improve prediction accuracy.
Familiarity with vehicle crashworthiness requirements, restraint system integration, and safety performance optimization.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, test, and homologation engineers.
