As a leading player in the EV market, VinFast is dedicated to delivering high-quality, cutting-edge electric vehicles that redefine the driving experience. Our team comprises passionate professionals driven by a shared vision of creating a greener and more sustainable future through innovation, technology, and excellence.
The Range Efficiency & Performance Integration lead Engineer is responsible for developing, integrating, and validating the vehicle energy management strategy across all powertrain and energy nodes (HV Battery, e-Machines, Inverters, Gearboxes, 12V systems, etc.).
This role ensures that the overall Range , Energy efficiency and Performance targets are achieved through system-level optimization, cross-attribute balancing, and continuous validation loops.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
- Define and maintain the vehicle-level energy management strategy from concept through delivery.
- Support SSTS target decomposition of overall energy consumption into subsystem-level efficiency targets by running various Design of Experiment (DOE) to understand the impact of changes
- Translate attribute targets into actionable requirements for subsystem teams.
- Integrate energy management control strategies across powertrain and vehicle domains by use of Simulations tools
- Conduct energy flow mapping and root cause analysis for deviations in range or efficiency performance.
- Collaborate with calibration and software teams to embed the strategy into vehicle control systems.
- Work with the simulation team to run energy consumption and thermal performance models under legislative and real-world cycles.
- Lead physical testing correlation and ensure alignment between virtual and real-world results.
- Conduct benchmarking of competitor energy management technologies.
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency through hardware or control improvements (e.g., inverter losses, gearbox drag, thermal management).
- Support technology selection and implementation in collaboration with system owners.
- Work closely with Vehicle Attribute, Powertrain, Thermal, Aero, and Battery teams to ensure a balanced system-level trade-off.
- Participate in VPT integration reviews to maintain conflict-free target delivery.
- Report progress to the Vehicle Performance Manager and present status during D&D and Senior management reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in automotive engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
- 5+ years of experience in vehicle efficiency, powertrain controls, or energy management ideal working in OEM environment.
- Strong understanding of BEV / hybrid architectures — HV battery, inverters, motors, and driveline systems.
- Experience with energy flow modeling tools would be ideal not must.
- Familiarity with vehicle test cycles (WLTP, EPA, NEDC) and energy KPI analysis will be good.
- Strong analytical and systems thinking.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination.
- Ability to translate technical data into strategic recommendations.
- Self-driven and structured approach to complex problem-solving. Top of Form Bottom of Form
