We are looking for a Power System Modeling & Automation Engineer to support Siemens PTI's growing portfolio of technical consulting projects in power system studies, renewable integration, dynamic simulation, and engineering automation.
The role will contribute to model development, simulation execution, study automation, and technical delivery across projects involving transmission networks, inverter-based resources, renewable plants, and advanced grid studies. The candidate is expected to combine solid power system knowledge with strong programming capability, especially in Python-based workflow automation.
You'll create impact by:
- Develop, maintain, and automate power system simulation workflows using tools such as PSS®E, PSCAD, PSS®SINCAL, and related platforms
- Support execution of technical studies including:
- load flow and time-series simulation
- dynamic and transient stability studies
- renewable and BESS integration studies
- model validation and performance assessment
- Build Python-based tools/scripts for:
- case preparation and data processing
- batch simulation execution
- model generation and conversion
- automated result extraction and reporting
- Support conversion and preparation of network and plant models across different simulation environments
- Assist in integrating and troubleshooting inverter-based resource models and control models
- Contribute to study methodology improvement, internal tool development, and engineering productivity enhancement
- Support preparation of technical reports, engineering notes, and client-facing materials
- Work closely with senior consultants and project managers in project delivery across Southeast Asia and international markets
Your defining qualities:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems
- Good foundation in:
- power system analysis
- dynamic behavior of power systems
- renewable energy integration
- transmission system modeling
- Hands-on experience with some of the following tools:
- PSS®E
- PSCAD
- PSS®SINCAL
- EMTP / PSLF is a plus
- Strong programming capability in Python for engineering automation and data processing
- Ability to understand model structures, simulation logic, APIs, and technical workflows
- Good English communication skills, both written and spoken
Preferred Profile
- Experience in dynamic studies, transient stability, or renewable plant/grid integration
- Experience in automation of simulation workflows and repetitive engineering tasks
- Familiarity with model conversion, event generation, instrumentation, or automated study setup is an advantage
- Strong problem-solving mindset, especially in debugging simulation and model performance issues
- Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively in project teams
