Job purpose

The Manager, IFRS Reporting is r responsible for the preparation, review, analysis, and timely delivery of accurate accounting entries and financial reports in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The position maintains the integrity of IFRS accounting data and financial reporting, provides technical expertise on complex reporting matters, strengthens financial controls, and coordinates with local, Regional Office, and Corporate stakeholders to meet reporting and governance requirements.

Major accountabilities

IFRS Accounting Entries and ledger integrity

  • Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timely recording of system-generated and manual accounting entries in the IFRS ledger.
  • Review daily data feeds from source systems and verify that relevant entries are successfully posted to the IFRS ledger in SAP.
  • Investigate data-feed errors, determine root causes, assess reporting implications, and coordinate corrective action with Vietnam and Corporate Information Technology teams and Regional Office stakeholders.
  • Review and prepare manual accounting entries relating to reinsurance, leases, expected credit losses, insurance contracts, invested assets, intangible assets, intercompany transactions, allocation adjustments, segregated funds, surplus transfers, and other assigned accounting matters.
  • Perform reconciliations between source systems, accounting applications, and SAP, and resolve identified discrepancies within established reporting timelines.
  • Maintain complete supporting documentation, appropriate review evidence, and compliance with applicable journal-entry controls.

IFRS Reconciliation and Reports

  • Review, analyze, and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual IFRS reports required by Corporate and Regional Accounting Control (RAC) through the applicable reporting channels.
  • Reconcile and analyze IFRS general-ledger balances using SAP, the enterprise financial data warehouse, and applicable reporting tools to identify unusual movements, data issues, and control exceptions.
  • Prepare reconciliations between SUN and SAP and review results by account and financial-statement category.
  • Prepare assigned IFRS balance-sheet, other comprehensive income, and income-statement reports.
  • Coordinate month-end and quarter-end close activities with Regional Accounting Control to support completion of required reporting steps, timelines, and control checks.
  • Provide supporting information and explanations for balance-sheet account reconciliations and internal and external audit requirements.
  • Resolve reporting exceptions in coordination with Regional Accounting Control, Regional Office, Corporate, and other relevant stakeholders.

QUTA Process and Green Button (GB)

  • Reconcile and validate relevant accounting data before Green Button processing to support the completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform key data and accounting checks before and after Green Button processing and investigate material variances or exceptions.
  • Review and record transactions relating to the QUTA IFRS 17 process and coordinate with Regional Office and Corporate stakeholders to resolve identified issues.
  • Maintain appropriate control evidence and supporting documentation for assigned QUTA and Green Button activities.

IFRS 17 IFRS systems, testing, and process improvement

  • Lead or participate in process-improvement initiatives affecting current accounting and IFRS 17 reporting processes.
  • Establish and maintain mappings between local and IFRS code blocks, including accounts, cost centres, management reporting dimensions, and intercompany expense-transfer requirements.
  • Coordinate with Information Technology, Product, Regional Office, and Corporate stakeholders on system testing, new-product configuration, data mappings, and changes affecting the IFRS ledger.
  • Analyze recurring reporting or system issues and recommend sustainable improvements to procedures, controls, mappings, and reporting tools.
  • Document approved changes and support implementation in accordance with applicable governance and testing requirements.

IFRS technical guidance and knowledge sharing

  • Provide technical guidance on IFRS 17 accounting processes, reporting requirements, controls, and system changes to Finance colleagues and relevant business partners.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, technical guidance, and knowledge materials for assigned reporting activities.
  • Share lessons learned from reporting issues, system changes, and process improvements to promote consistent application of IFRS reporting requirements.
  • Support cross-functional stakeholders in understanding accounting-data requirements and the financial-reporting implications of process or system changes.

Specialized knowledge and skills

  • Demonstrate the Curiosity to effectively leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, decision-making, and quality of outcomes within the role
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial-reporting principles, including practical knowledge of IFRS 17 and relevant knowledge of IFRS 9 and IFRS 16.
  • Strong understanding of general-ledger accounting, manual journal entries, account reconciliation, financial close, reporting governance, and internal control requirements.
  • Ability to analyze complex accounting data, identify unusual movements and control exceptions, assess reporting impacts, and develop appropriate recommendations.
  • Knowledge of intercompany transactions and eliminations.
  • Experience with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial-close processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and working knowledge of relevant finance systems and reporting tools, including SUN and SAP.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deliverables and maintain accuracy under fixed reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate technical accounting matters clearly to Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively across local, Regional Office, and Corporate functions.

Problem solving

  • Demonstrate strong accountability in problem solving by proactively identifying, owning, and resolving all issues within scope, regardless of formal task assignment
  • Resolve varied and interdependent accounting and reporting issues involving IFRS requirements, source-system data, ledger postings, reconciliations, financial controls, and fixed reporting deadlines.
  • Analyze root causes, evaluate financial-reporting implications, identify available solutions, and recommend corrective actions within established policies and governance requirements.
  • Distinguish issues that can be resolved independently from material accounting, control, or system issues that require timely escalation.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Actuarial, Information Technology, Product, Regional Office, Regional Accounting Control, and Corporate stakeholders to resolve cross-functional issues.
  • Identify recurring reporting errors, data-quality concerns, control exceptions, and process inefficiencies and recommend sustainable solutions.
  • Apply professional judgment when precedents do not fully address the facts of a reporting or reconciliation issue.

Education and experience

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in IFRS accounting, financial reporting, finance controllership, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial close, complex accounting entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and investigation of reporting issues.
  • Practical experience with IFRS 17 and insurance finance processes is compulsory
  • A recognized accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is preferred.
