JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for managing airfield maintenance activities to ensure the safety, reliability, and operational readiness of taxiways, runways, and aprons. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for airport infrastructure development. Recommend effective maintenance solutions that support uninterrupted airfield operations and long-term pavement integrity.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

I. Airfield Maintenance Operations

  1. Supervise inspection and upkeep of taxiways, runways, and aprons to maintain operational safety and integrity.
  2. Manage pavement repair, marking, rubber removal, and structural damage assessment activities to ensure compliance with CAAV and ICAO/IATA standards.
  3. Coordinate timely response to airfield maintenance issues to minimize operational disruptions.
  4. Implement preventive maintenance programs to extend pavement life and reduce emergency repairs.
  5. Monitor quality control of maintenance work performed by internal teams and contractors.

II. Stakeholder Coordination & Compliance

  1. Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations teams to align maintenance activities with project objectives.
  2. Liaise with CAAV and external contractors to ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards.
  3. Prepare and submit maintenance reports and documentation for regulatory review.
  4. Support audits and inspections by regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
  5. Ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations in all maintenance operations.

III. Team Leadership & Development

  1. Lead and supervise maintenance staff, setting clear goals and performance expectations.
  2. Provide coaching and training to enhance team skills and adherence to safety protocols.
  3. Ensure team compliance with airport safety and operational procedures.
  4. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the maintenance team.
  5. Manage workforce scheduling to optimize resource allocation and coverage.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications & Work Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, airport management or a related field is preferred. Candidates with substantial relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • 6-10 years of experience in airfield or civil pavement maintenance within airport infrastructure projects, or a related field required.
  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory or team leader capacity preferred.
  • Knowledge of pavement maintenance and airport infrastructure regulations required.
  • Experience working under CAAV regulations and familiarity with ICAO/IATA standards preferred.
  • Prior exposure to airport operations or projects.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Valid Airport Operations Certificate or equivalent industry-recognized certification preferred.

OLC's Airport Pavement Maintenance Certification, Certificate in Airfield Maintenance, or equivalent aviation operations certification preferred.
