Embroidery and Tailoring Assistant
Pay Rate: $14.73 per hour worked
Location: Linen Services located at 373 Service Road East Lansing, MI
Provide service to Spartan Linen Services customers while working in a retail/uniform environment.
Typical Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To Required Qualifications
- Quality embroidery control for final trim and finish work
- Inspect finished products to ensure adherence to quality standards
- Bag, tag, and label uniform orders per order instructions
- Complete final count and box/bag finished product for order fulfillment
- Consistent and efficient operation of embroidery projects and learn to operate machinery with supervision.
- Hemming pants, patching uniforms, tagging uniforms, small stitch, and repairs
- Operate sewing machine
- Assist with daily and weekly machine maintenance
- Maintain a log of run times for each logo on file
- Communicate to get logos digitized and stitch cuts completed.
- Read and evaluate production calendar.

- Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)
- Ability to safely and satisfactorily operate machinery in production plant setting
- Must follow all established policies and practices to contribute to a safe, healthy work environment
- Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service, practicing DOSE at all times
- Must be a motivated self-starter, able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- Must be detail oriented, accurate, and organized
- Must be dependable and reliable, with excellent attendance
- Must have good communication skills to communicate clearly, concisely, and respectfully, especially when working with a diverse population
- Ability to amicably receive constructive direction from manager/supervisor, and to professionally, quickly and efficiently implement same to maintain/improve service levels
- Must be able to work a minimum of 6-10 hours per work week, and possibly 15-20 plus hours per work week during busy times of operation
- Must be able to work your entire shift while standing/walking
- Basic computer use knowledge
- Ability to get to Spartan Linen Services on Service Road location w/o bus support close by
- Work Location is at 373 Service Road

- Proficient in sewing techniques
- Can operate a sewing machine
- Skilled seamstress that has a passion for sewing and can hem pants and make small repairs
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to change priorities when needed
- Demonstrated ability to work with staff at all levels
- Ability to be flexible, quickly adjusting to different and changing situations
- Motivated self-starter with a desire to grow skill set.

Physical Demands
- Lifting/moving up to 25 pounds
- Work 100% of shift while standing/walking
- Repetitive motions possible, such as lifting, moving, bending, squatting, twisting, based on assigned tasks
Work Hours
Variable; initial schedule set at time of hire
Operational hours: Mon-Fri 6:00 AM-3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, No shifts available on weekends or evenings.
Minimum hours: 12-15 hours per work week Work Location Laundry (Loc)
- Additional hours will be considered
- Domestic students may work up to 29 hours per week during the school year.
- International students may work up to 19 hours per week during the school year.
- All shifts will be scheduled per needs of the operation; your shifts might not total maximum allowed hours listed above
- Working through the summer is absolutely welcomed, however, not required.
