Position Overview
The incumbent is responsible for managing fabric sourcing, development and quality deliverables to meet clients needs and tastes.
He/she is required to have strong sourcing capabilities and maintain business relationships with various parties including vendors and clients to speed up business developments, and ensure fabric bulk quality is in line with clients visual and testing requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop fabrics sourcing channel and sourcing seasonal design requests with vendors
- Visit mills, dye-houses and printers for informal evaluations to map out strengths and capabilities and share feedback and observations with merchandising teams.
- Provide ongoing performance evaluation, calibration and training to mills/vendors to improve their internal assessment and increase first time development passing rates
- Provide technical feedback to vendors in order to guide on corrections of color and print resubmissions
- Keep abreast of any new fabric trends, technology and innovations which would be suitable for our clients
- Support merchandising teams and design team to counter source off the shelf fabric qualities from approved mill base
- Create and manage an extensive database of fabric mills and maintain fabric library in order to support seasonal inspirations and archive
Job Requirements (Education / Experience / Skill-set)
- Degree or above in Textile / Clothing or related discipline
- At least 10 years solid experience in fabric sourcing and development, experience in USA market is preferable
- Self-motivated with strong negotiation skills to deal with various stakeholders
- Good command of both written and spoken English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
