Job Description

  • Subject Matter Expert: K–12 English Language Arts (US Curriculum)
  • Location: Remote (Vietnam-based)
  • Client: USA-based Education Leader
  • Role Type: Freelance / Contract (Long-term potential)

Position Overview

We are seeking high-caliber Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design world-class digital ELA curricula for the US market. You will bridge the gap between rigorous academic standards and engaging digital learning. This role requires a deep insider understanding of US pedagogical shifts, particularly the move toward complex texts, evidence-based writing, and critical inquiry.

We are currently hiring across three distinct grade bands. Please specify your expertise in your application:

  1. Elementary (Grades 3–6): Focus on foundational literacy, vocabulary acquisition, and transitional fluency.
  2. Middle School (Grades 6–9): Focus on structural analysis, argumentative writing, and cross-disciplinary literacy.
  3. High School (Grades 9–12): Focus on rhetorical devices, sophisticated literary analysis, and college/career readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Design: Create age-appropriate lesson plans, teacher guides, and creative writing prompts aligned strictly with US Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
  • Content Development: Author original reading passages or curate complex texts that meet specific Lexile® requirements for your designated grade band.
  • Assessment Creation: Develop formative and summative evaluation tools that measure deep comprehension rather than rote memorization.
  • Tech Integration: Build interactive modules using Articulate Rise and utilize AI tools to streamline content drafting and research (advanced training provided).
  • Iterative Review: Collaborate with a US-based editorial team to refine content based on Voice and Tone feedback.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Academic Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, English Literature, or Linguistics (US or International University degree highly preferred).
  • Curriculum Expertise: Proven track record in developing ELA content specifically for the US market (CCSS, TEKS, or similar).
  • Cultural Fluency: An ear for American English. You must be able to write in a tone that feels authentic and inclusive to a US student in 2026.
  • Tech Agility: Proficiency in (or a rapid ability to learn) Articulate Rise and a proactive attitude toward using Generative AI in the creative process.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience teaching in a US-curriculum International School (e.g., SSIS, UNIS, ISHCMC).
  • Familiarity with Science of Reading (for K3–6) or Rhetorical Analysis (for K9–12).
  • Previous experience working in a remote, async environment with US-based stakeholders.

Core Competencies

  • Pedagogical Precision: You don't just know what to teach; you know how it should be scaffolded for different learner levels.
  • Proactive Communication: You are comfortable working in a flat hierarchy, asking clarifying questions, and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Creative Flair: The ability to turn a standard grammar lesson into a multimedia-rich, gamified experience.

Why Join This Project in Vietnam

  • Upskilling: Master professional Instructional Design software (Articulate Rise) and AI-assisted workflows that are becoming the global industry standard.
  • Flexibility: Work from anywhere in Vietnam. While we align with US deadlines, your daily schedule is flexible, provided you can join occasional evening sync calls with the US team.
  • Professional Respect: We are looking for experts, not just content writers. Your pedagogical input will directly shape the final product.
