Develops and Implements Country/Area Strategic Plans

  • Analyzes claim expenses to ensure the district meets business plan targets.
  • Attends district security planning meetings to provide input into the development of region security plans.
  • Coordinates lead country Crisis Response Team, room set-up and periodic drills to prepare for emergency situations.
  • Develops district business plan, staffing and initiatives to align with regional goals and objectives.
  • Implements consistent performance indices to measure progress on corrective action plans for losses and damages.

Oversees Country/Area Security Operations

  • Directs government and internal UPS aviation security and gateway-related audits to ensure compliance with government regulations and internal UPS processes.
  • Directs security audits of physical assets (e.g., buildings, vehicles, etc.) to ensure compliance with company processes and procedures.
  • Monitors service failure reports to identify procedural breakdowns and employee dishonesty incidents.
  • Reviews entrance and exit procedures for company facilities to ensure security guards follow the rules and regulations for each facility.
  • Reviews physical security technology requirements, plans, and costs to initiate installation of new or replacement equipment as needed.

Directs Security Investigations

  • Distributes investigation findings to management and government agencies to ensure an appropriate response to the incident.
  • Evaluates investigative techniques used by security personnel to ensure company guidelines are followed.
  • Gathers information (e.g., research, interviews, surveillance, etc.) to prepare accurate and thorough case files.
  • Reviews incident reporting results (e.g., investigations, terminations, etc.) to determine their impact on the company's business results.

Maintain External Relationships with In-Country Agencies

  • Collaborates with government agencies (e.g., CAA, etc.) to comply with international regulations.
  • Participates in internal cross-functional and customer meetings to remain current with customer and UPS strategic objectives while promoting and ensuring security.
  • Participates in security-related organizations to stay current with loss prevention processes, trends, and technologies.
  • Partners with international and local law enforcement agencies to prevent and disrupt illegal activities (e.g., contraband, etc.).

Manages And Develops Others

  • Coaches others and provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance.
  • Conducts frequent performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to facilitate open communication and encourage continuous performance improvement.
  • Ensures that direct and indirect reports have documented career goals and detailed plans for achieving these goals to develop them personally and professionally.
  • Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.
  • Identifies individual and team skill gaps and developmental opportunities (e.g., training, special assignments, conferences, projects, etc.) to facilitate individual and team development.
  • Identifies opportunities to involve others in new and challenging work assignments and/or rotations that advance the skills and capabilities of individuals and the organization.
  • Make salary recommendations to reward employee performance.
  • Manages resources and people processes (e.g., Performance Management, Career Development, Training, Staffing, etc.) to ensure the day-to-day administration of processes and formal procedures.
  • Resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS's policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in security, risk management, or law enforcement, with at least 23 years in a managerial role
  • Strong knowledge of security operations, incident management, and crisis response
  • Experience in developing and implementing security policies and procedures
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and investigations
  • Good understanding of local laws and compliance requirements related to safety and security
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional and regional teams
  • Proficiency in English; local language proficiency is an advantage
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills
