Job Description

*Job Overview/ Purpose of the Role

The CTOH Engine Component Application Engineer is responsible for the engineering and technical support for commercial diesel engine & other automotive components that have been identified by product line managers. This work includes but is not limited to: design development through suppliers, part approvals, validation testing at suppliers, failure analysis, supplier interfacing, global purchasing and marketing support and simultaneous engineering support with global manufactures of automotive components.

The CTOH Engine Component Application Engineer is responsible for delivering a part to the DRiV organization per engineering/marketing requirements and providing engineering support to grow the business on a global basis which includes global travel to support the application development process.

*Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to cross-function, inc. product management, purchasing, quality and sales etc.
  • Support purchasing in potential suppliers audit and validation
  • Approve designs developed through suppliers
  • Implement drawing approval, control and documentation
  • Document and approve any supplier deviations
  • Review validation testing as part of the design approval.
  • Support the quality team on technical issues.
  • Approve PPAP samples and documentation.
  • Store approval documents
  • Support Quality and Warranty groups with failure analysis
  • Support suppliers with technical issues.

*Qualifications (Education/ Experience/ Key Competencies)

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, prefer in CTOH commercial engine industry
  • More than 5 years experience in product development, with commercial engine/automotive industry components product experience is a plus
  • Experience in design of automotive or diesel engine components is preferred.
  • Knowledge of diesel engine is preferred, with engine main components development experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, practices and processes.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills to include presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information with all levels of employees and groups.
  • Self motivated and can work independently.
  • Possess basic project management skills.
  • Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, GT&T, FMEA and failure analysis.
  • Analytical trouble shooting and problem solving (root cause analysis, effective problem solving, etc.).
  • Ability to closely examine and visually inspect parts and data.
  • Excellent computer skills to include knowledge of MS Office, Filemaker Pro, NX CAD software
  • Writes business correspondence, technical specifications, test reports, etc.
