We are looking for a Workplace Design Lead who can turn complex business needs, human insights, and project realities into clear and meaningful workplace solutions.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will personally lead some of Huynchi's most challenging workplace projects while also helping other designers think more deeply, make stronger decisions, and raise the quality of what we deliver as a team.
We are looking for someone with strong design judgment, curiosity, empathy, and the ability to move comfortably between big ideas and practical decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead important and challenging workplace projects
- Lead the design direction of key workplace projects from discovery and concept through delivery.
- Understand the client's business, people, culture, brand, operational needs, and ambitions before defining the design response.
- Turn complex requirements into clear workplace strategies, concepts, spatial solutions, and design narratives.
- Lead client presentations, workshops, and important design discussions.
- Maintain clarity of design intent as projects move through technical development, procurement, and construction.
- Stay actively involved when difficult design, technical, commercial, or delivery decisions need to be made.
Connect design with people and business
- Create workplaces that support employee experience, collaboration, wellbeing, productivity, and organizational culture.
- Help clients understand how workplace decisions can influence the way their people work and experience the organization.
- Connect workplace design with brand identity, operational performance, flexibility, and long-term value.
- Look beyond individual spaces and consider the complete workplace experience.
- Use research, observation, client insight, and professional judgment to challenge assumptions and improve the brief where appropriate.
Lead By Doing And By Supporting Others
- Work directly on projects that require a high level of design thinking and judgment.
- Guide designers through concept development, problem-solving, and important design decisions.
- Review work constructively and help maintain a consistently high standard across projects.
- Give designers enough direction to improve without taking ownership away from them.
- Share knowledge, references, methods, and lessons learned.
- Help create an environment where designers can ask questions, test ideas, and develop their own point of view.
- Support the professional development of designers through day-to-day project work.
Collaborate across Design & Build
You will work closely with Business Development, Project Management, Technical Design, MEPF, QS, Procurement, and Site Teams.
At Huynchi, design is not developed in isolation. A good workplace solution must respond to people and business needs while also being technically sound, buildable, commercially responsible, and deliverable within real project conditions.
The Workplace Design Lead plays an important role in helping different disciplines understand what matters most and make better decisions together.
Protect design intent through delivery
- Work with technical designers and engineers to develop coordinated and buildable solutions.
- Review key materials, finishes, details, samples, mock-ups, and technical proposals.
- Participate in value engineering without losing the essential intent or performance of the design.
- Stay connected with site teams during construction and help resolve issues where design judgment is required.
- Review completed work and provide direction where quality or design intent needs to be improved.
- Capture lessons from completed projects and use them to improve future work.
Strengthen Huynchi's design practice
- Contribute to the development of Huynchi's workplace design standards, methodologies, references, and knowledge.
- Improve the way the team researches, develops, communicates, reviews, and delivers design.
- Encourage constructive design critique and continuous learning.
- Help Huynchi build a distinctive workplace design point of view grounded in people, business outcomes, and delivery reality.
- Bring relevant ideas from workplace research, technology, materials, sustainability, and changing ways of working into the team.
Design, technology and AI

Qualifications
You may be a strong fit for this role if you have:
- A degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Around 6 or more years of relevant experience in workplace, office, or commercial interior design.
- Strong experience leading workplace design projects with significant responsibility from concept through delivery.
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong design thinking, judgment, and the ability to solve complex project challenges.
- Experience working directly with clients and leading important design conversations.
- Experience reviewing, guiding, or mentoring other designers.
- A strong understanding of space planning, workplace experience, materials, detailing, and interior construction.
- The ability to connect design decisions with business needs, budget, technical requirements, buildability, and long-term operation.
- Confidence working with multidisciplinary project teams in a Design & Build environment.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to remain clear and decisive when dealing with complex or competing project requirements.
- Curiosity about workplace transformation, human experience, AI, and emerging ways of working.
