About the role
This is a hands-on enterprise infrastructure position responsible for the implementation, administration, troubleshooting, security, and lifecycle management of Windows Server environments.
The role covers a hybrid infrastructure landscape including on-premises virtualization, AWS, and Microsoft Azure. You will also take ownership of Active Directory, IIS, PowerShell automation, server performance, backup/recovery, and infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver who can independently troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and work effectively with infrastructure, application, network, security, and business teams.
Key Responsibilities
Windows Server & Infrastructure
- Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments, including 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, and 2022.
- Manage the full server lifecycle, including implementation, patching, upgrades, performance optimization, and decommissioning.
- Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and act as an escalation point for complex Windows Server issues.
- Troubleshoot server, hardware, software, network, and application-related problems.
- Manage file services, permissions, ACLs, backup/restore, and disaster recovery activities.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical incidents and after-hours support.
Active Directory & Identity
- Administer Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), DNS, DHCP, Domain Controllers, and related directory services.
- Support enterprise and multi-domain environments.
- Manage system and service accounts following security and least-privilege principles.
- Implement server security and compliance best practices.
IIS & Web Hosting
- Design, implement, configure, and troubleshoot advanced IIS environments.
- Manage application pools, SSL/TLS certificates, URL Rewrite, reverse proxy, load balancing, and performance tuning.
- Support complex enterprise web hosting and application environments.
Virtualization & Cloud
- Manage and troubleshoot virtual server environments using VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Deploy and support server workloads across AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
- Troubleshoot hybrid infrastructure spanning on-premises and cloud environments.
- Support cloud and infrastructure integration projects with network and cloud teams.
Automation & Operations
- Develop PowerShell scripts and automation workflows to improve infrastructure efficiency and reduce manual administration.
- Use enterprise remote management tools such as PowerShell Remoting, Windows Admin Center, RDS, and RSAT.
- Support monitoring, alerting, performance optimization, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
- Maintain technical documentation, infrastructure diagrams, and CMDB records.
- Participate in infrastructure projects and collaborate with global technical teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Windows Server Administrator in a corporate or enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server 2012 R2 / 2016 / 2019 / 2022.
- Strong expertise in Active Directory, GPO, DNS, and DHCP, preferably in a multi-domain environment.
- Advanced hands-on experience with IIS, including implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
- Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Hands-on experience supporting workloads in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
- Good understanding of hybrid infrastructure and on-premises/cloud integration.
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions such as Veeam, Commvault, or Backup Exec is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
