Job Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver quality credit decisions/recommendations based on sound judgement, by adopting a systematic and consistent approach in line with the Bank's credit policies and guidelines on a timely basis. KPIs: replacement and growth in assets, risk assessment and mitigant, NPL/SP trend, cost and compliance.
  • Manage the overall credit portfolio of DBS Vietnam.
  • Active participation in all credit-related initiatives within RMG and DBS Vietnam. Motivate and coach RMs to build up an efficient, knowledgeable and professional credit standing with regional, sector/industry expertise.

Responsibilities

As a Credit Approver,

  • Ensure credit approvals/reviews are approved/supported on a timely basis
  • Work with the RMs in structuring complex transactions to manage/minimise risk profile of the transaction
  • Screen marginal credits through early involvement to reduce unproductive efforts by RMs to improve efficiency and reduce turnaround time
  • Visit existing and potential clients together with RMs
  • Proactively identify and recommend remedial/defensive actions for weak marginal cases through periodic reviews; periodic reporting of Watchlist/Weak/NPA cases
  • Manage working relationships with various Business Units across the bank to facilitate successful execution of transactions

Other Duties

  • Manage a team, comprising of Credit Control Unit (CCU) and Market & Liquidity Risk (MLR) officers, in coordination with relevant functional Support Unit (SU) at group
  • Assist in socializing new/amended risk policies and procedures to RMs to ensure compliance with the bank's credit policy and guidelines
  • Provide specific industry knowledge/support to RMG colleagues as requested

Requirements

  • University degree with major in Finance, Economics or Business preferred.
  • 15 or more years of experience in Banking at least 10 of which should be in a Credit function exercising delegated credit authority
  • Cross-sector and product knowledge.
  • Results oriented team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good risk management and compliance awareness.
  • Good negotiation and problem-solving skills.
