Responsibilities
- Vietnam Data Protection Officer (DPO)
- Act as Aon Vietnam's Data Protection Officer in accordance with all applicable Vietnamese laws and regulations on personal data protection, data, privacy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, including but not limited to Decree No. 356/2025/ND-CP implementing the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), Decree No. 165/2025/ND-CP detailing the Law on Data (Data Law), and the new Law on Cybersecurity (which amends the 2018 Cybersecurity Law), together with any amendments, supplements or reenactments (Vietnamese Law).
- Advise on the development, implementation and periodic review of internal policies, procedures, regulations and forms to ensure compliance with Vietnamese Law.
- Participate in the implementation and handling of data subject rights, including (where applicable) access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, consent withdrawal and data portability, ensuring timely and compliant responses.
- Participate in periodic assessments of Aon Vietnam's compliance with Vietnamese Law and propose measures to enhance legal compliance and prevent, detect and manage privacy risks.
- Lead and support the preparation and submission of regulatory assessments and fillings required under Vietnamese Law, with the support from Global Privacy & Data Trust Office as appropriate, including (without limitation):
- processing impact assessments and crossborder personal data transfer impact assessments under the PDPL; and
- self-assessment of risk report for core and important data, cross-border data transfer self-assessment of risk dossier and cross-border data transfer and processing impact assessment dossier under the Data Law
and coordinate any necessary submissions to competent authorities.
- Receive and report personal data protection violations or data incidents, support investigation and remediation, and help ensure that any reporting, notification or followup obligations to competent authorities are met.
- Participate in the design and implementation of technical and organisational measures for personal data security, including standards, controls and emergency response plans for personal data protection incidents.
- Participate in training programs and courses on personal data protection as prescribed or required by applicable competent or supervisory authorities under Vietnamese Law, and help cascade key learnings within Aon Vietnam.
- Collaborate with and build strong relationships with relevant Vietnamese data protection and cybersecurity competent authorities; assist with interactions, inspections or requests from competent authorities.
- Participating in Aon Vietnam management forums and relevant committees to report on the status of monitoring, assurance activities and key risks.
- Act as an advocate for data protection & information security by maintaining and enhancing a strong culture of data privacy within the organisation.
- Regional Privacy Counsel (Asia)
- Work with commercial teams to ensure client, supplier and third-party contracts comply with all relevant privacy and data protection laws and align Aon's contracting strategy.
- Draft, review, and negotiate privacy and data protection clauses (including DPAs and addenda) in Aon's client, supplier and third-party agreements.
- Work collaboratively within the OneTrust system to review initiatives for compliance with privacy laws, conduct privacy impact assessments and develop solutions to address identified privacy risks.
- Advise on data privacy incidents, including legal analysis of notification obligations and recommended communications, and manage or support regulatory interactions as needed.
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with members of the business and shared services teams, and work proactively with them to identify, mitigate and address privacy risks.
- Work closely with the relevant Asia stakeholders in assisting business and shared services teams in responding to requests from individuals with common rights under the applicable data protection with respect to their personal information.
- Support and help deliver projects designed to promote privacy awareness, reinforcing Aon's approach to privacy and its global privacy commitments.
- Provide regular privacy training and communications to Aon business and shared services teams within the Asia region.
- Support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of privacy compliance programs and controls across the region.
- Keep abreast of regulatory and legislative developments in the Asia region, analyze their impact and help ensure that Aon understands and remains compliant with evolving requirements.
Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success.
- Possess a college/university degree or higher.
- At least 23 years of relevant work experience (postgraduation) with a focus in privacy and data protection, cybersecurity, legal or compliance in Vietnam and/or the wider Asia region.
- Demonstrated training and development in legal knowledge and professional skills related to personal data protection.
- CIPP certification (or the ability to demonstrate equivalent privacy knowledge).
- Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, particularly privacy and data protection clauses and addenda.
- Experience working with OneTrust (or similar privacy management tools) is preferred.
- Proven experience in interpreting, implementing and operationalising privacy compliance programs.
- Selfmotivated team player with the ability to learn quickly, identify and resolve legal and business issues, drive projects and build the confidence and trust of stakeholders.
- Able to work independently while also thriving as part of a diverse, crossfunctional team.
