Job Description

The VP, Lead Architect will lead the Enterprise Architecture strategy, target architecture, and technology roadmap for Corporate Digital Banking, while also covering Retail Digital Banking. The role ensures scalable, secure, resilient, and well-integrated solutions aligned with business requirements, technology strategy, risk and regulatory obligations, and the Bank's long-term digital transformation priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the Enterprise Architecture roadmap and target-state architecture for Corporate Digital Banking and Retail Digital Banking.

• Own architecture across business, application, integration, data, cloud, infrastructure, and security domains, ensuring consistency with enterprise and Group technology strategies.

• Lead Architecture Governance and Design Authority forums; establish architecture principles, reference architectures, technology standards, review gates, and exception-management processes.

• Design and govern Core Banking integration, API architecture, microservices, event-driven integration, cloud architecture, and data architecture across digital banking platforms.

• Provide architecture leadership for Digital Corporate Banking, Corporate Banker Portal, Transaction Banking, Lending and LOS, Deposits, Payments, Cash Management, Retail Channels, Onboarding, and Customer Servicing.

• Review solution designs and ensure functional and non-functional requirements covering scalability, security, performance, availability, resilience, observability, privacy, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance.

• Drive modernization, platform simplification, application rationalization, reuse of shared capabilities, reduction of technical debt, and controlled transformation of legacy banking systems.

• Partner with Business, Product, Engineering, Data, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Group Technology, and vendors to translate strategic priorities into executable architecture roadmaps.

• Support technology selection, vendor evaluation, build-versus-buy decisions, investment prioritization, and architecture assurance for major banking transformation initiatives.

• Lead, coach, and govern solution architects, domain architects, technical leads, and external partners, ensuring design quality, documentation, knowledge transfer, and architecture compliance.

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Enterprise Architecture, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 15 years of experience in software development, solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or technology delivery within Banking or Financial Services.

• Minimum 8 years of hands on, direct experience as a Solution Architect or Enterprise Architect, personally designing and delivering solutions for both Retail Banking and Corporate Banking.

• At least 3 years of experience in a similar senior architecture leadership role, such as Head of Architecture, Chief Architect, Enterprise Architect, or Lead Solution Architect.

• Strong preference for candidates with hands-on experience working with at least one Core Banking solution, including solution architecture, integration, implementation, modernization, or major upgrade programmes.

• Deep understanding of banking technology domains, including Core Banking, Digital Channels, Corporate Banking, Transaction Banking, Payments, Deposits, Lending and LOS, Cards, CRM, Integration, and Data Platforms.

• Strong knowledge of API management, microservices, event-driven architecture, cloud-native platforms, integration patterns, identity and access management, data architecture, and distributed systems.

• Proven experience establishing Architecture Governance, Design Authority, reference architectures, technology standards, solution review processes, architecture repositories, and exception governance.

• Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and modelling practices such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, capability mapping, and application portfolio management; relevant certification is preferred.

• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, stakeholder management, communication, vendor management, and decision-making skills in a regulated banking environment.
