Overview : The Vehicle Corrosion Attribute Lead Engineer is a key technical leadership position responsible for ensuring the corrosion resistance and long‑term structural integrity of VinFast vehicles throughout their lifecycle.
This role combines strategic and technical responsibilities covering corrosion prevention engineering, materials protection strategies and corrosion validation testing. The objective is to deliver vehicles capable of meeting long‑term durability expectations across diverse global markets and environmental conditions.
The position requires strong collaboration with design, materials, manufacturing, testing teams and suppliers to integrate corrosion protection solutions into vehicle development programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead vehicle corrosion attribute development, working with cross‑functional teams to meet performance, quality and cost targets.
- Define vehicle‑level corrosion durability targets and cascade them to subsystem and component requirements.
- Develop corrosion protection strategies including material selection, coatings, sealing concepts and structural protection.
- Define and validate vehicle corrosion test plans including accelerated corrosion testing and complete vehicle corrosion validation.
- Lead corrosion life prediction using analytical methods and accelerated testing correlation.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of corrosion issues identified during development, validation testing or field operation.
- Collaborate with design and materials teams to ensure corrosion protection is integrated into component and system design.
- Coordinate supplier development activities related to corrosion performance of materials and components.
- Ensure corrosion robustness during product development, validation and production readiness phases.
- Mentor and support junior engineers in corrosion engineering methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline with at least 5 years of experience in corrosion engineering or vehicle durability development.
- Strong expertise in corrosion mechanisms including cosmetic corrosion, functional corrosion and perforation corrosion.
- Extensive knowledge of corrosion prevention technologies including coatings, galvanization, sealing and material selection
- Experience with accelerated corrosion testing methods and vehicle corrosion validation procedures.
- Solid background in vehicle architecture including BIW, chassis, closures, exterior components and electrical systems impacted by corrosion.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes influencing corrosion protection such as body shop welding, coating processes and paint shop operations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects effectively while working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and external engineering and testing suppliers.
- Ability to perform effectively under high‑pressure conditions typical of a fast‑moving automotive development environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to engineering fundamentals and practical solutions.
- Self‑motivated with strong ownership mindset and continuous improvement mentality.
- Excellent project management, problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across cross‑functional engineering teams and suppliers.
