JOB OVERVIEW
As the UX Research Manager, you are the strategic Source of Truth for the entire product ecosystem (Mobile App Smart Car Web Portal). Your mission is to lead a high-performing research team that deconstructs complex human behaviors into Actionable Strategic Insights.
In this role, you do not design the solutions; instead, you define the problem space through advanced automotive-specific methodologies (HMI) and cutting-edge data analysis (AI, Big Data). You act as a bridge between raw user data and the UI/UX Production team, ensuring that every design decision is grounded in scientific evidence, safety standards, and future-forward trends.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Advanced HMI & Automotive Research Leadership
- Safety & Cognitive Load Analysis: Lead specialized studies on Driver Distraction, reaction times, and cognitive workload.
- Visual & Attentional Mapping: Oversee Eye-tracking studies to measure Gaze Shift, Glance Duration, and situational awareness, ensuring compliance with international safety guidelines (ISO 15007/15008, FMVSS).
- Multimodal Interaction Testing: Evaluate the effectiveness of non-visual feedback, including Haptic/Tactile cues, Spatial Audio, and Voice UI to optimize eyes-on-the-road interactions.
- Naturalistic & Simulated Testing: Design research protocols for both high-fidelity Driving Simulators and Naturalistic Driving Studies (NDS) to capture authentic user behavior in diverse driving scenarios.
- Prototype Validation: Facilitate testing for IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment), HUD (Head-Up Display), Digital Clusters, and Mobile Apps to identify error patterns before the development phase.
2. Ecosystem Continuity & Journey Insights
- Cross-Platform Synchronization: Research the Hand-over experiencehow users transition from the Mobile App (remote control/trip planning) to the Vehicle HMI, and eventually to the Web Portal for data management.
- Friction Point Identification: Analyze the entire ecosystem to find breaks in the journey, providing the UI/UX Production team with clear evidence of where the experience needs to be bridged.
- VOC & Market Intelligence: Synthesize data from Voice of Customer (VOC), CRM, App Store reviews, and field feedback to create a 360-degree view of the user.
3. AI-Driven Analysis & Future Trends
- Predictive UX & AI: Leverage AI/Machine Learning tools to analyze large-scale qualitative data and predict future user needs based on emerging HMI trends (e.g., Generative AI in-car, AR-HUD).
- Big Data Integration: Collaborate with data engineers to merge Vehicle Telemetry data with user behavior patterns to uncover hidden insights that traditional interviews might miss.
- Strategic Benchmarking: Conduct periodic evaluations of global HMI trends and international standards to ensure the product remains at the forefront of the industry.
The primary output of this role is a Source of Truth documentation for the production team, including:
- Behavioral Pattern Reports: Deep dives into how different personas interact with the ecosystem in real-world contexts.
- HMI Safety & Performance Audits: Quantitative evidence of distraction risks or cognitive friction in proposed concepts.
- Ecosystem Opportunity Maps: High-level insights pinpointing where the user journey can be improved across platforms.
- Next-Gen Forecasts: Data-backed recommendations on emerging technologies and how they should be integrated into the product roadmap.
Requirements
1. Strategic Vision & Leadership
- Experience: 810 years in UX Research, with at least 35 years in a Managerial/Lead role. Proven experience in complex hardware-software integrated systems (Automotive/HMI experience is mandatory).
- Visionary Mindset: Ability to anticipate how Autonomous Driving (ADAS) and AI will shift human behavior and expectations over the next 510 years.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, or a related technical field.
2. Technical Expertise & Methodology
- Automotive Standards: Mastery of international HMI safety standards and the ability to apply them to research frameworks without stifling design innovation.
- Advanced Tools: Expert-level knowledge of eye-tracking systems (e.g., Remote/Wearable), Biometric sensors (GSR, Heart Rate), and specialized HMI testing software.
- Data & AI Literacy: Proficiency in using AI-powered research tools for sentiment analysis and the ability to work with large quantitative datasets (Big Data).
3. Managerial & Collaborative Soft Skills
- Objective Evidence-Based Approach: A strong commitment to objectivity; the ability to defend research findings with data, even when they challenge stakeholders assumptions.
- Insight Synthesis: The ability to distill complex technical data into compelling Insight Packages that inspire the UI/UX Production team to create innovative solutions.
- Ecosystem Thinking: A natural tendency to view every feature as part of a connected system (App-Car-Web) rather than an isolated screen.
Work Location:Technopark Tower, Gia Lam, Ha Noi
