OVERVIEW: Lead the detailed design, analysis and optimization of transmission system. Create and release drive units in terms of performance, cost, and manufacturability for transmission components.
Functional Job
- Develop concepts for geartrain related components to minimize part count, cost, and complexity in the drive unit
- Design and analysis of geartrain components including rotating shafts, gears, differentials, torque split devices, spline, spring, botl,...
- Design, coordinate, and execute system level and component level tests for performance, durability, reliability, and variability
- Tolerance calculation for components and subsystem.
- Risk assessment, root cause analysis and problem resolution for failures of geartrain components in validation tests
- Provide technical guidance to cross functional teams (manufacturing, production, quality, supply chain and service) through entire development and life cycle of drive unit products
- Work with Suppliers to drive process improvements and product excellence for high volume contract manufacturing
- Work with other design and Test Engineering to develop and bring innovative technologies to mass production
- 2D and 3D modeling utilizing CAD software
- Build DVP, DFMEA for important components
- Control of BOM, CAD model and Engineering drawings
- Sourcing, working with supplier to make the prototype & mass production parts
- Build measurement guide for transmisison component.
- Support to solve issue form production line
- Build transmission assembly guide and asembly samples for development phase.
System Management
- Ensure seamless integration of transmisison system with emotor and housings and broader EV powertrain architectures.
- Establish and maintain simulation workflows using advanced tools like KissSoft, ANSYS to predict gear and bearing performance under various operating conditions.
Financial Management
- Work closely with the procurement team to select cost-effective materials and components that meet performance standards without compromising quality.
- Optimize motor design for scalability, ensuring low-cost and efficient mass production aligned with company goals.
Requirements
Degree/ Qualification: Undergraduate and higher in Mechanical Engineering, Specialization in Transmission system
Experience
- 7 year + experience in mechanical design
- Experience in using 2D & 3D software, Experience in Teamcenter, GD&T and Tolerance analysis will be advantage
- Knowledge about transmission system: Gear, shaft, bearing, belt, chain
- Experience in 3D modeling within a product development environment CATIA preferred
- Experience in CAE analysis or calculation software package like Ansys preferred
- Experience in KissSoft calculation software preferred
