Overview:
The Operational Risk Management Trainee plays a critical support role in navigating the bank's increasing risk governance mandates. You will assist the team in managing a high volume of policy reviews, supporting new validation standards from the Head Office, and overseeing vendor risk assessments. This position offers an intensive learning environment where you will directly contribute to the bank's operational resilience and compliance framework.
Responsibilities
Risk Framework Validation & Assessment
- Support the implementation of new Head Office standards by assisting in the review of Risk Control Self-Assessment and Key Risk Indicators items.
- Perform independent validation testing on sample results from Business Units to ensure data accuracy and compliance with new testing requirements.
- Assist in the management and oversight of the division's risk indicators and assessment data.
Outsourcing Risk & Policy Governance
- Manage the increasing volume of vendor and outsourcing risk assessments, particularly for Digital Banking initiatives, by pre-screening proposals and documentation.
- Support the annual review process for a comprehensive list of bank-wide policies and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure timely completion.
Incident Management & Reporting
- Assist in the governance of operational incidents by tracking follow-up actions and ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
- Prepare data summaries and governance reports for both Country and Head Office levels, supporting the team in meeting rigorous reporting timelines.
Skills & Experience We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Banking, Finance, or a closely related discipline (recently graduated or in the final year of study).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel to handle large datasets.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrates a strong eagerness to learn and grow within the Risk Management department.
