We are looking for a Test Architect to address a critical gap in establishing a unified, scalable, and efficient testing strategy across projects. Currently, testing efforts are fragmented, which increases risk, slows delivery, and limits automation adoption. This role will provide a high-level, strategic approach by defining the testing methodology, selecting appropriate tools, and building a robust automation framework that integrates seamlessly throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensure consistent technical standards, improve test coverage, and accelerate release cycles while maintaining quality. The Test Architect will enable a shift from reactive testing to proactive quality engineering, reducing defects, enhancing scalability, and supporting business goals for reliable, high-performing software solutions through automation.
A day in the life as a Test Architect:
- Own test strategy & standards: Define risk-based, shift-left test strategy; publish quality gates, test levels, and definition of done across squads.
- Integrate with CI/CD: Embed automated suites into pipelines; set pass/fail policies, flaky test quarantine, and artifact publishing (reports, logs, screenshots).
- Test data & environments: Establish synthetic/seed data strategies, environment provisioning, versioning, and configuration management.
- Nonfunctional testing: Stand up performance, reliability, and basic security/vulnerability scans with automated execution and dashboards.
- Observability & reporting: Define metrics (coverage, defect escape rate, mean time to detect/fix, pipeline pass rate) and publish dashboards to guide release readiness.
- Tooling governance: Evaluate and recommend test management and automation tools; drive integrations with issue tracking and requirements.
- Platform breadth: Ensure cross platform strategy for web, mobile (Android/iOS), and hardware adjacent Point of Sale scenarios (peripheral device interactions, connectivity, etc.).
- Enablement & coaching: Mentor QAs/engineers; run guilds, code reviews for test automation, and training on standards.
- Continuous improvement: Identify bottlenecks, propose process changes, and lead pilots to improve speed/quality while controlling risk.
If the below describe your knowledge, experience and character, this role could be for you:
- I have strong knowledge of modern QA and SDLC practices, including risk-based testing, shift-left approaches, and TDD/BDD
- I bring an automation-first mindset, with hands-on experience designing and scaling frameworks for API, UI, and mobile testing
- I have practical experience with test doubles, contract testing, and architectural patterns such as Page Object / Screen Object models
- I have worked with test management and traceability using Xray integrated with Jira for planning, coverage, and reporting
- I have a solid background in API testing, using tools and frameworks such as Postman and RSpec
- I have applied Playwright, AccelQ, or Selenium patterns to testing on Android and iOS platforms
- I am a systems thinker, able to see the full SDLC and optimize end-to-end flow rather than local maxima
- I can influence without authority, setting standards and driving adoption across multiple squads
- I am pragmatic and outcome-oriented, balancing ideal architecture with delivery constraints and focusing on automation that delivers measurable value
- I am an excellent communicator, comfortable writing standards and presenting dashboards and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- I act as a mentor and multiplier, elevating team capability through coaching, reviews, and enablement
- I am detail-driven and resilient, tracking quality metrics, triaging flaky tests, and iteratively improving reliability
- I am security- and risk-aware, treating performance and reliability as first class quality attributes
We know imposter syndrome can be REAL when applying for a new role, but please don't let the confidence gap prevent you from taking a leap and applying for your dream job. Your future self will thank you!
