Job Summary
The Technical Design Manager will oversee all aspects of technical garment development, ensuring that all products meet design and construction intent, fit and spec standards, quality expectations, and pre-production timelines. This role will act as a critical bridge between U.S. design/production teams and Vietnam-based vendors and factories, driving execution from prototype through to final production.
Job Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Vietnam team, providing guidance on fit, specs, and construction methods.
Collaborate closely with the U.S. design and production teams to interpret design intent and translate it into creating accurate tech packs for our vendors and factories. Be able to review and correct errors in existing tech packages.
Maintain and oversee the tech package library with accurate records and updates.
Maintain and oversee our established blocks for ongoing style development.
Conduct sample fit review sessions, evaluate samples, and provide clear, detailed comments to vendors for revisions.
Review and approve graded specs, construction techniques, and garment quality standards.
Drive continuous improvements in sample execution, fit consistency, and bulk production accuracy.
Troubleshoot and resolve any fit or construction issues in development and production stages.
Maintain strong communication and relationships with factory partners to ensure timelines and standards are met.
Support innovation in construction and production methods to improve product performance and reduce cost or waste.
Job Requirements
Bachelors degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Technology, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in technical design or garment engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern blocks, grading, fit, and fabric behavior across multiple categories.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and technical spec software (e.g., PLM, Gerber, or Optitex is a plus).
Experience working directly with overseas factories and navigating full-package development timelines.
Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal); Vietnamese language skills are a plus.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Based in or willing to relocate to Ho Chi Minh City.
