JOB PURPOSE
The Terminal Operations, Team Lead is responsible for supervising and coordinating day-to-day terminal and ground operations during assigned shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused service delivery aligned with airline and airport schedules.
Execute assigned terminal operational plans, coordinates on-shift resources, monitors passenger flows and serviceability, and leads on-site incident responses to restore normal operations in a timely manner. Maintain terminal situational awareness, ensures effective shift handovers, and escalates issues appropriately in accordance with established escalation protocols to minimize operational impact.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
I. Terminal Operations Command & Control
- Supervise and coordinate the execution of terminal shift activities to ensure continuous serviceability and safe operations.
- Monitor and manage passenger flow operations, including check-in, boarding, passenger handling, baggage areas, security queues, and hold rooms, implementing on-shift contingency measures to reduce delays and congestion.
- Allocate and redeploy on-shift operational resources (staffing, stands/gates, equipment) to meet service, security, and safety requirements in line with aviation standards.
- Make on-shift operational decisions within delegated authority limits and escalate complex or high-impact incidents in accordance with the established escalation matrix.
- Maintain real-time situational awareness of terminal operations and coordinate timely responses to emerging operational issues.
II. Operational Coordination & Compliance
- Act as the on-site coordinator for routine operational disruptions and initial incident response, liaising with airlines, ground handlers, security, emergency services, and internal teams to resolve issues.
- Provide clear, timely communication to relevant stakeholders during disruptions, including managing briefings and updates as required.
- Support and participate in operational drills and exercises and contribute to post-incident reviews to capture lessons learned and support corrective actions.
- Monitor operational performance during normal, irregular, and disrupted operations, ensuring compliance with applicable SOPs, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate operational logs and shift handover reports to ensure continuity of operations between shifts.
III. Team Supervision & Development
- Supervise on-shift teams and coordinate workforce deployment to ensure adequate operational coverage and alignment with operational priorities.
- Provide on-shift leadership, guidance, and direction to team members to ensure adherence to procedures, safety standards, and service requirements.
- Support the planning and coordination of shift rosters and workforce assignments in line with operational demands.
- Provide on-the-job coaching and guidance to team members to support consistent operational performance and service delivery.
- Support on-the-job training activities and knowledge transfer to ensure team readiness and operational consistency.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Work Experience:
- Tertiary education in business, operations management, logistics, or related field is preferred. Candidate with substantial relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- 3-5 years of experience supporting or managing frontline operations in complex, high-volume, or other mission-critical operational environments.
- 1–2 years in a supervisory or shift-lead role, coordinating on-shift teams and resources
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory during disruptions or irregular operations, including real-time coordination, issue resolution and escalation.
- Experience working in safety-critical and time-sensitive environments, with exposure to operational procedures, incident response and handover processes.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Relevant airport operations, safety or emergency response training preferred.
Ground handling, airport operations, or aviation related training certifications where available is advantageous
