The System Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing IT infrastructure and platform systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security across the organization.
This role works closely with Technical Operation (OpsTech), DevOps, and Application teams to deliver stable and scalable IT services, while acting as the technical owner of infrastructure components.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure & System Management (40%)
- Manage and maintain Linux/Windows servers in on-premise.
- Administer virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent)
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability
- Ensure system hardening, patching, and security compliance
- Manage storage systems, backup solutions, and disaster recovery (DR) readiness
Incident Resolution & Technical Support (25%)
- Act as Level 2 / Level 3 support for infrastructure-related incidents
- Troubleshoot system, network, and platform issues (server, OS, storage)
- Support major incidents as technical resolver (not just coordinator)
- Work closely with OpsTech for escalation handling and root cause resolution
- Ensure timely resolution aligned with SLA/MTTR targets
System Reliability & Monitoring (15%)
- Design and maintain monitoring systems (Zabbix, Grafana, etc.)
- Optimize alert quality and reduce false positives
- Ensure proactive detection of system risks and performance issues
- Collaborate with OpsTech to improve alerting and operational visibility
Change, Deployment & Improvement (10%)
- Execute infrastructure changes, deployments, and system upgrades
- Support CI/CD and DevOps initiatives (infrastructure readiness, environment setup)
- Participate in capacity planning and system scaling
- Identify improvement opportunities to enhance system reliability and performance
Documentation & Standardization (10%)
- Maintain system architecture documentation and configuration records
- Develop and update operational procedures, runbooks, and recovery guidelines
Experiences
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in System Administration / Infrastructure roles
- Experience in Retail / multi-site systems is a plus
- Hands-on experience with large-scale systems or distributed environments
Requirements
- Strong experience with:
- Linux / Windows Server administration
- Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.)
- Storage systems & backup solutions
- Solid understanding of:
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN)
- Monitoring tools and system observability
- Security best practices (patching, access control, hardening)
Soft Skills & Mindset
- Strong ownership and accountability in system operations
- Proactive problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset
- Ability to work under pressure during incidents (on-call readiness)
- Good communication skills to work across OpsTech, DevOps, and Business teams
- Structured and disciplined in documentation and process adherence
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT / Computer Science or related field
- Certifications preferred: MCSA / MCSE / Linux (LPI1, LPI2)
