Position Information

RHS Job Title Student Human Resources Assistant I Job Description

Location: Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center

As a Student Human Resources Assistant, you will aid staff members in an array of Human Resources functions including but not limited to, hiring, onboarding, data entry, basic payroll functions, answering basic policy questions, project work, and office upkeep. Other tasks may include representing RHS at recruitment events, contacting new hires/employees, organizing and updating applicant tracking sheets, helping to conduct hiring paperwork sessions, processing hiring paperwork like I-9s, handling confidential information, and answering employees HR-related questions through phone/email. You will be responsible for supporting a full-time Human Resources Coordinator with student and On-Call staffing across multiple operations, functioning through a wide variety of tasks.

Wage: $13.73/hour

Required Qualifications

  • Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)
  • Be able to work Spring 2026 and Summer 2026
  • Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service, with a strong desire to deliver outstanding Spartan experiences (DOSE) to both guests and teammates.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated character
  • Takes responsibility for work and self
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and a positive and respectful demeanor, especially when working with a diverse population
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to articulate problems and solutions to same
  • Must be team-oriented, setting the best possible example for fellow employees
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Must keep all information strictly confidential
  • Must have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to present at training/orientations
  • Hospitality Business or Human Resources major
  • Previous office experience is a plus

Physical Demands Work Hours

Varying hours throughout a Monday Friday, 8am-5pm work week.
