Principal Accountabilities

SEA Project Support and FG Sourcing

  • Support new supplier (Finished Goods/OEM, and sub-tier vendor) scouting.
  • Lead the overall supplier's capability assessment with quality and engineering team.
  • Lead the communications from on-site monitoring, upward and downward through the organization, raising key issues and options for resolution.
  • Perform supplier risk management. Ensure governance and customer specific compliances in suppliers. Ensure no financial risk to hamper component quality or supply.
  • Evaluate external market conditions such as commodity prices fluctuations, currency movements, demand and supply, and recommend actions to management.
  • Conduct industry specific research, benchmarking, financial and business analytics for pricing and purchasing rationalizations.
  • Support BU Leads on FG price negotiation and commercial negotiation.
  • Support the overall APO Sourcing strategy
  • Support ramp-up readiness preparation with engineering, quality, and OEM teams.
  • Regularly visit and monitor OEM factories preparation and readiness in executing engineering builds and mass production ramp-up.

Component Sourcing

  • Develop and execute the component localization (Packaging, PCBA, Power Cord, etc.) strategy with ownership of total cost, quality, and services.
  • Manage the component sourcing and purchasing activities such as price, terms and conditions, negotiations and to ensure continuity of supply, reduce total costs and prepare for future sourcing challenges for the specific product line/category.
  • Participate in all project milestone reviews and project conference calls related to component sourcing/pricing/component supplier management issues.
  • Manage the component supplier performance by using supplier scorecard and performance management tools. Lead the corrective action meeting with suppliers until all rectifications are done.

County Of Origin (COO) Compliance

  • As productions are moving from China to SEA countries, the COO of the product needs to comply with Made In SEA for exporting from manufacturing country and importing into USA.
  • Work with internal APO team in supporting COO analysis with external consultant to ensure the SEA projects are compliance with Made In SEA Country.
  • Work with APO teams to drive COO compliance with SEA OEM factories via localization of component or / and manufacturing process as needed.

Education, Qualification and training

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain/operations management, business management or related field is required; MBA is preferred
  • Professional qualification in purchasing management or supply chain from a recognized organization is preferred (e.g. CPM, MCIPS)

Experience Or Skills Required

  • At least 8 years relevant working experience in buying office / trading /manufacturing (MNC is highly preferred)
  • Solid understanding on manufacturing operations of mechanical products, utility products, electrical and electronics products, components, raw materials. Well-known of the operational linkage among supply chain, production, engineering, quality, sales, and customer services
  • Familiar with PC, Oracle ERP, MRP, DRP operations
  • Good team player, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to influence and negotiate effectively
  • Self-driven, capable to work and deliver with minimum supervision
  • High command of both spoken and written English, Mandarin/Cantonese will be a plus.
