Job Summary
We are seeking a SQL Application Support Engineer to support application and data-related operations. This role focuses on handling incidents, troubleshooting data issues, and supporting application/database activities using SQL and stored procedures.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a support environment, investigating data discrepancies, and resolving production issues at the database/application level.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle incident tickets related to application and data issues.
- Investigate and troubleshoot data discrepancies, identify root causes.
- Write SQL queries to: Extract and analyze data, Validate data accuracy, Investigate data-related issues.
- Perform data verification and reconciliation.
- Fix data issues directly when applicable, or escalate to higher-level teams when required.
- Work with stored procedures to support troubleshooting and minor enhancements.
- Provide support at the application/database layer (not infrastructure level).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (BA, Developers, Operations) to resolve issues.
- Maintain clear documentation of incidents, root causes, and resolutions.
Requirements
Must-have
- Experience in Application Support / Production Support / Data Support environment.
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational database structure (tables, relationships, data flow).
- Ability to write SQL queries for: Data extraction, Data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of stored procedures (able to read, understand, and modify simple logic)
- Experience handling: Incident / ticket-based support, Data-related issues in production.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good English communication skills (able to explain issues clearly and work with stakeholders).
Nice to have
- Ability to write or optimize stored procedures independently.
- Basic knowledge of Python.
- Experience in data validation / reconciliation.
- Exposure to reporting systems or data processing environments.
