SCOPE OF WORK
As a Software Engineer Intern Back-End, you'll help architect and implement the core services that power Edtronaut's products. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams (Product Managers, Front-End Engineers, AI Engineers) to ensure our back-end runs smoothly, scales effectively, and provides an exceptional experience for learners and partners across multiple projects and modules. Your key responsibilities will include:
A. API
- Design, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using frameworks like Node.js (Express.js) or Flask (Python) that integrate seamlessly with front-end applications, databases, and AI/ML modules.
- Collaborate with Front-End Engineers to define clear data contracts and ensure reliable data exchange.
B. Database & Infrastructure Management
- Work with SQL or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) to store and retrieve user data, course content, and analytics.
- Contribute to DevOps processes by learning CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker), and cloud services (AWS, GCP) to support smooth deployments and ongoing maintenance.
C. Scalability & Performance Optimization
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose solutions to ensure responsiveness under varying loads.
- Implement robust logging, error monitoring, and alerting systems for proactive performance management.
D. Security & Data Integrity
- Collaborate with the team to ensure authentication, authorization, and data protection best practices.
- Understand and uphold security standards, especially when working with sensitive user information in an AI/EdTech/Workforce Development context.
E. Agile Collaboration & Continuous Learning
- Attend daily stand-ups, retrospective meetings, and sprint planning, sharing progress and tackling development challenges collaboratively.
- Stay updated with back-end trends (Node.js, Python, containerization, serverless, etc.) and integrate relevant best practices into Edtronaut's evolving platform architecture.

We want a detail-oriented, curious, and self-driven individual who sees the back-end as the backbone of a product's success. You'll fit in perfectly if you:
- Have a Growth Mindset: Eager to learn new frameworks, technologies, and architectural patterns.
- Strong Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Comfortable tackling technical roadblocks and brainstorming solutions with peers.
- Basic Coding Knowledge: Some exposure to back-end languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, or Go), relational/non-relational databases, and version control (Git).
- Collaboration & Communication: Ready to explain complex back-end logic to front-end or product teams, ensuring a smooth, integrated development process.
- Interest in AI & EdTech: Excited about how advanced data/AI solutions can transform learning, and open to exploring new ways to integrate AI into back-end services.
Basic Requirements
- Currently pursuing (or recently graduated from) a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
- Familiar with at least one major server-side framework or ecosystem (Express.js / Node.js, Flask / Python, Django, Spring Boot, etc.).
- Able to commit to a minimum of 4 days per week for a 3-month to 6-month internship.
- Bonus: Exposure to DevOps, Docker, or cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) is a plus.
