Senior Venture Capital Associate

About the role:

The firm is hiring a Senior VC Associate. The individual will work closely with the most experienced tech startup VC investors in Vietnam where we dive deeply into market and technology trends ahead of our investments and provide meaningful support to a small handful of companies per fund.

We are seeking someone who shares our general curiosity for how the world works, and a passion for exploring a wide range of sectors. We hope this individual will contribute to the general intellectual discussions, but also bring a vibrant, entrepreneurial spirit to the team as well.

The individual will work with the investment team to accelerate the time to commercial success, amplify outcomes, and track the progress of our companies.

The individual will advise portfolio companies on their go-to-market strategy across sales, marketing, and business development. They create commercial and strategic partnership opportunities for the portfolio companies. Through these efforts, they strive to support each portfolio company in its pursuit of product-market-fit and commercialization at scale.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Sourcing
• Identify key themes and effectively generate compelling deal flow and investment opportunities.
• Develop and nurture relationships with upstream investors, corporates, and service providers that are important to generate dealflow
• Quarterback the diligence process which includes market research, financial modeling, customer calls, and product/technology deep dives.
• Assist in all aspects of the investment process including thematic discussions, building market maps, crafting investment memos, and supporting portfolio companies.
• Efficiently and effectively distill key takeaways from the diligence process and thoughtfully present them to the broader investment team.
• Drive value for our portfolio companies through customer and partner introductions, executive-level recruiting, and service provider recommendations
• Develop and foster relationships with members of the community, industry executives, and strategic partners
• Differentiate the firm from its competitors by designing and implementing new value-add initiatives
• Manage our network and track value-added interactions through Streak
• Develop an action plan for each portfolio company in coordination with the investment lead and deliver against that plan
• Track progress of portfolio companies against key metrics and milestones
• Contribute to the firms brand with presence & thought leadership on social media, at industry events, and in firm publications.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be highly flexible, positive, team-oriented, and a proven self-starter with a strong work ethic. He/she must be capable of working independently in a fast-paced start-up culture with little guidance. He/she should possess a strong can do attitude, be intellectually curious, and have a demonstrated passion in the startup and venture capital ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will also have the following qualifications:

• Must reside in Vietnam
• B.S. or B.A. degree
• 4+ years of relevant work experience, with a strong preference of previous experience in venture capital
• A deep respect for founders and the founder journey
• Intellectual curiosity and passion for technology investing
• A self-starter who is enthusiastic to operate with autonomy
• Extreme ability to organize and manage process
• Bilingual in English and Vietnamese with effective writing skills
• Exceptional organization, analytical skills, and judgment
