About Rize

Rize (rize.farm) is a leading Climate/fin-tech startup uniquely positioned to drive solutions that make rice cultivation more sustainable and improve farmer livelihoods in Asia. These sustainable solutions are urgently needed as rice cultivation is one of the largest polluting forms of agriculture globally (even worse than global aviation ) and rice is grown by some of the most climate-exposed smallholder farmer communities in Asia.. Formed through a joint venture between world-class investors: Temasek, Wavemaker Impact, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and GenZero in 2023, Rize is the only independent platform focusing solely on the sustainable transition of rice cultivation and improving rice farmers economic livelihood.

Rize's technological platform captures vital agricultural data essential for implementing sustainable farming practices. These practices and solutions make rice farmers more climate-resilient, increase crop yields, lowers costs, and facilitates efficient access to financing solutions. Rize currently has operations in Indonesia and Vietnam and plans to expand further within the region. Rize has received substantial global media attention, acknowledging our efforts in this journey - please read more here: Bloomberg,Business Insider,DealStreetAsia.

About the role:

This is a full-time role as Senior Trading Executive – Rice Export Business at Rize. The role sits at the intersection of trade, sustainability, and innovation, driving Rize's efforts to expand rice exports, especially in pioneering low-emission rice products. You will be responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies, building strong relationships with buyers across global markets, and ensuring smooth collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.

As Business Development Lead, you will own the sales funnel end-to-end — from market research, prospecting, and outreach to negotiating contracts and closing deals with major international and domestic clients. Beyond execution, you will play a strategic role in shaping go-to-market approaches for new rice categories (such as climate-smart rice) and positioning Rize as a trusted partner to buyers who demand both quality and sustainability.

The export team at Rize is extremely lean, which means you will work with high autonomy and ownership. You will be expected to perform independently, lead your own workstream, and proactively solve challenges as they arise, whether in market development, buyer inquiries, or operational coordination. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact, build new markets, and help define the future of sustainable rice trade.

What You'll Do

  • Drive Commercial Development: Lead the sales process for rice exports from prospecting through to negotiation and deal closure with reputable clients (importers, consumer brands, traders, and food companies).
  • Develop Go-to-Market Strategies: Research trends and buyer preferences to design and execute commercialization plans for innovative products, including low-emission rice.
  • End-to-End Sales Funnel Management: Build and maintain a strong pipeline of buyers, manage outreach and follow-ups, communicate buyer demand clearly to internal teams, and ensure seamless execution from contract to delivery.
  • Performance Tracking: Participate in & improve reporting systems to monitor progress against sales targets, buyer engagement, and market development goals.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with agronomy, operations, finance, and carbon teams to align product offerings with client requirements and manage smooth execution of contracts.
  • Marketing & Buyer Engagement: When needed, create compelling sales and marketing materials (presentations, product sheets, case studies) tailored for international buyers.
  • Market Research & Intelligence: Track global rice trade flows, competitor positioning, regulatory changes, and sustainability-related trends to inform business strategy.
  • Partnership Building: Represent Rize at industry trade fairs, exhibitions, and conferences to expand the company's network of buyers and partners.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3–6 years of business development, export sales, or commercial roles in rice or closely related agri-commodities. Prior experience working with large, reputable clients in international markets is strongly preferred.
  • Proven Sales Track Record: Demonstrated success in managing the full sales cycle (from outreach and lead generation through to contract negotiation and closing).
  • Sector Knowledge: Strong understanding of rice value chains, global trade dynamics, and emerging trends in sustainable/low-emission food products.
  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze market data, anticipate buyer needs, and craft commercially sound go-to-market strategies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent coordination skills to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders across geographies.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare polished materials for buyers and present persuasively in meetings.
  • Independent Ownership: Ability to work independently in a lean team with a can-do attitude and strong ownership mindset, requiring little supervision to find solutions to new and complex business challenges.
  • Curiosity & Drive: Genuine interest in agriculture, climate, and global trade, with a curious mindset and motivation to engage external stakeholders across the private and public domains.
  • Tools: Proficiency in Google Sheets & Google Slides. Experience using Notion is an advantage.
  • Mindset: Entrepreneurial, hands-on, and results-driven, with resilience in building new markets.
  • Languages: Full professional proficiency in English & Vietnamese
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel for buyer meetings, trade fairs, and field visits with farmer partners.
