Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join a growing structural and civil engineering consultancy. This is a hands-on role covering the full project lifecycle - from concept design through to construction documentation - across residential, commercial, industrial, and heavy industry sectors. The ideal candidate is technically strong, works independently, and thrives in a fast-paced small office environment.

Working Location: Home-based setup

Work Schedule: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (AEST)

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead concept and detailed structural design across reinforced concrete, timber, steel, and masonry
• Manage projects from inception through to construction documentation
• Coordinate structural design with draftspersons, providing design sketches and ensuring drawing accuracy
• Identify and resolve structure-architecture coordination issues proactively
• Mentor and guide junior engineers in their technical development
• Liaise directly with clients and attend team meetings with stakeholders
• Apply and interpret relevant Australian Standards across all project types
• Write forensic reports and review independent specialist reports (fire, geotechnical, and others)

Must-Have:

• Minimum 7 years experience in reinforced concrete, timber, steel, and masonry
• Strong English communicator, able to manage a project from concept to construction documentation
• Proficient in structural programs, able to interpret technical literature/structural models and validate by first principles
• Able to work with draftspersons, provide structural design sketches, and coordinate drawings
• Able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment with strong time management to meet tight deadlines

Nice-to-Have:

• Comfortable mentoring junior engineers and guiding their development
• Comfortable writing forensic reports, including reviewing independent specialist reports (fire, geotechnical, etc.)
