PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality distributed applications within the FORTNA Warehouse Execution System (WES) platform.
- Participate in the architecture, design, implementation, and delivery of scalable warehouse automation and execution solutions.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, Infrastructure, and Services teams to deliver reliable and maintainable software solutions.
- Provide remote support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis for both new WES solutions and legacy WCS systems.
- Contribute to system reliability, performance optimization, scalability, observability, and operational excellence.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, event-driven integrations, microservices, and enterprise application components.
- Assist QA and Infrastructure teams in test automation, deployment validation, packaging, and release activities.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices, coding standards, and technical documentation.
- Support project customization efforts and assist implementation teams during customer deployments.
- Travel occasionally to customer sites to support solution qualification, testing, and go-live activities when required.
- Continuously learn and adopt new technologies, tools, and engineering practices, including AI-assisted software development tools.
- Share technical knowledge with team members and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong experience with Java (Java 17 or later preferred) and concurrent/distributed application development.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), software design patterns, and clean coding principles.
- Experience developing enterprise applications using modern Java frameworks and technologies (e.g., Spring Boot, Quarkus, Play Framework, Micronaut, or similar), including RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
- Experience with messaging technologies, event-driven architectures, or message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, IBM MQ, etc.).
- Experience with Git and modern build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
- Experience working with Docker and containerized applications.
- Familiarity with Linux-based development and deployment environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, OpenSearch, Splunk, or Datadog.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with warehouse automation, warehouse execution systems (WES), warehouse control systems (WCS), logistics, supply chain, or industrial automation domains.
- Experience working with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar developer productivity tools.
- Experience participating in technical design discussions, mentoring junior engineers, and driving engineering improvements.
