Role Description
As a senior member of the team, you will drive the shift from a reactive support model to a
proactive, engineering-led approach, with clear ownership of platform reliability, observability, and continuous improvement.
In the near term, you will own platform reliability, observability, and CI/CD across five production environments while actively supporting a planned SaaS migration. Over time, your focus shifts to higher-value work: business-level performance metrics, integration platform health, developer
experience, and internal capability uplift. You will work closely with development, QA, architecture, and business stakeholders to ensure platforms are secure, scalable, and well-governed, while also providing technical leadership and guidance to internal and offshore teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve DevOps practices across development, deployment, and platform operations.
- Establish and maintain proactive monitoring and alerting to identify and resolve issues before they impact production.
- Manage and optimise platform infrastructure to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Define and implement Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) across the platform, including performance. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable automated, consistent, and low-risk deployments.
- Lead incident management and post-incident reviews, ensuring root cause resolution and preventative actions.
- Provide proactive platform governance and technical guidance, including version management, EOL risk, and security considerations.
- Support and help shape the transition from Adobe Commerce PaaS to SaaS, aligning DevOps practices with the evolving platform model.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- 6+ years of hands-on DevOps experience, including at least 3 years in a senior capacity within cloud-based environments.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi).
- Strong experience with Adobe Commerce Cloud (PaaS), with exposure to Adobe Commerce SaaS highly desirable.
- Expertise in CI/CD tools and automation practices (e.g. BitBucket CI/CD).
- Strong experience with Git-based version control practices, including branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, and release management workflows.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. New Relic).
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and infrastructure practices (e.g. AWS, Fastly, Azure).
- Practical experience using Docker for containerisation, local development environments, application deployment, and troubleshooting across cloud-based platforms.
- Experience in proactive platform management, including performance optimisation and incident prevention.
- Strong understanding of Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and platform reliability principles.
- Strong scripting skills in at least one language (e.g. Bash, Python, or Go) for automation and tooling.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear and actionable technical guidance.
