Job Description
Basic Function:
- This position is responsible for designated manufacturing process and documentation, methods analysis/improvements, machines layout and equipment acquisition, preparation of equipment justification and appropriation request development, and maintenance of manufacturing information and Statistical process control systems, providing analytical troubleshooting, and leading projects designed to improve efficiencies, assure quality and reduce costs. Hands-on to involve process and production activity is a must.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Technical Support & Problem Solving (40%)
- Provide on-site technical support to ensure product and process quality requirements are met.
- Analyze recurring issues and implement effective solutions.
- Support operators in resolving technical and process difficulties.
- Investigate and contain failed products; propose corrective actions.
- Report improvement activities to engineering supervisors.
- SOP Maintenance, Training & Audit (10%)
- Develop and update technical SOPs and work instructions.
- Train operators on process flows, operation standards, and skill improvement.
- Conduct audits to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Report performance and compliance issues to production leadership.
- Cost Reduction & Yield Improvement (30%)
- Continuously improve process capability and efficiency to reduce production costs.
- Improve product yield through process optimization and root-cause analysis.
- Design and implement tooling and fixtures to enhance productivity.
- Maintain related cost data in Oracle or SAP/ME systems.
- New Technology Development (15%)
- Support engineers in executing technical experiments and development projects.
- Assist in trial production for new products or processes.
- Participate in implementing new technologies to enhance process capability.
- Support QA investigations for customer complaints related to engineering.
- Collaborate with production to resolve abnormal issues.
- Other Tasks (5%)
- Perform other duties assigned by engineering supervisors.
Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Sciences; preferred majors: Optics Fabrication Engineering/ Mechatronics Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in manufacturing or process engineering. & Experience in optics manufacturing or high-volume, quality-oriented environments preferred.
- Skills & Abilities: Strong fault isolation, problem-solving, and analytical skills; Proficient in process improvement and tooling/fixture design; Knowledge of P-FMEA, SPC, and statistical analysis methods (preferred); Proficient in AutoCAD (SolidWorks is an advantage).
- Strong English communication; Mandarin is an advantage.
