Senior Manager – Technical Garment to lead the technical function and ensure product quality, fit, construction and manufacturability meet customer and business requirements.
This role is ideal for a senior technical apparel professional with strong expertise in
garment construction, fit, pattern, technical development and commercialization, combined with proven team leadership and strong stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Garment Technical function, overseeing technical development from initial product concept through commercialization and production.
- Review and evaluate garment specifications, construction, patterns, measurements, fitting and technical requirements.
- Work closely with Product Development, Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, Production and Quality teams to ensure products are technically feasible and commercially viable.
- Lead the development and approval of samples, prototypes, fitting sessions and technical packages.
- Provide technical expertise on garment construction, workmanship, materials, fit and manufacturing processes.
- Review technical specifications and identify potential issues related to fit, construction, quality, cost and manufacturability.
- Collaborate closely with international customers and brands to understand technical requirements and resolve development issues.
- Drive the commercialization process and ensure products are transferred smoothly from development into production.
- Establish and maintain technical standards, procedures and best practices across product development and manufacturing.
- Lead technical problem-solving for complex garment construction, fit and production issues.
- Partner with factories and production teams to improve product quality, efficiency and consistency.
- Monitor development timelines and ensure technical milestones are delivered according to customer requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve product quality, development efficiency, manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
- Lead, coach and develop the technical team, building a strong technical capability and succession pipeline.
- Stay updated on new garment construction techniques, materials, technologies and industry trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Garment Technology, Apparel, Textile, Fashion, Engineering or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in garment technical development, apparel manufacturing, product development or a related field.
- Proven experience in a Technical Manager / Senior Technical Manager / Technical Development Manager role within the apparel industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Garment construction
- Pattern and fitting
- Measurement and specifications
- Sample development
- Technical packages
- Fabric and garment performance
- Manufacturing processes
- Strong understanding of the complete apparel development and commercialization process.
- Experience working with international brands or global customers is highly preferred.
- Proven experience managing and developing technical teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to technical challenges.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Willingness to travel when required.
