Job Purpose
The Senior Manager, Aviation Systems Integration leads the integration and pre-deployment validation of aviation ICT systems destined for the VIP terminal and the PTB at Gia Binh International Airport, ensuring that systems are proven, stable, and operationally fit before they touch live passengers.
The post-holder is the technical counterpart to the Director Aviation ICT, owning the integrity of integration outcomes across the design, build, and operational phases, and transitioning into a senior technical support role once systems are in service. Working hand-in-glove with the MSI, system vendors, the lab engineering team, and the other MAI technology directorates, the Senior Manager ensures that integration risks are identified and resolved upstream in the lab, before they become operational problems on the terminal floor.
Key Accountabilities
Lab-based integration assurance for aviation ICT systems.
• Be accountable for the end-to-end integration assurance of aviation ICT systems passing through the GBIA lab environment prior to deployment in the VIP terminal and the PTB. This covers integration testing across bespoke systems and COTS deployments, bilateral interface verification, performance and load testing of throughput-critical functions (FIDS update latency, biometric matching, BHS message handling), regression testing for change releases, vendor FAT witness and SAT execution, and hardware staging and burn-in ahead of deployment. They will work with the Cybersecurity directorate to ensure security testing requirements are met within the integration cycle. They are accountable for the technical quality gate between vendor delivery and operational acceptance: nothing reaches the terminal floor that has not been integrated, tested, and proven in the lab to the standard the operation requires.
Technical leadership across the full stack.
• Be accountable for personally maintaining the technical depth required to lead aviation ICT integration credibly, with mastery of the network and database layers and working competence across the full stack (servers and virtualisation, identity and biometrics, application integration patterns, message buses, OT and BHS interfaces). They will scrutinise vendor designs and as-built configurations for integration-critical defects: race conditions, message contract mismatches, performance ceilings, single points of failure, and resilience gaps. They will direct and coordinate the work of the three lab engineers (who report through the lab function) to ensure integration activities are properly resourced, sequenced against hardware lead times, and executed to the standard required. They are accountable for removing technical problems before they arise, not for documenting them after they have.
Lifecycle transition and operational technical support.
• Ensuring continuity of integration knowledge from design and build into operation. During design they contribute to integration architecture, technical standards, and testability requirements. During build they lead integration delivery as set out above. As systems move into service, they transition into a senior technical support role for aviation ICT, providing escalation depth for the dedicated ITSM function on integration-related incidents, supporting root cause analysis on complex multi-system failures, and ensuring lab capacity and configuration discipline are sustained for change releases, defect resolution, and future system additions. They will maintain a working knowledge of emerging aviation ICT integration trends (cloud-native airport platforms, event-driven architectures, OneID interoperability, AI-enabled operational systems) sufficient to feed credible technical input into roadmap and renewal decisions.
Job requirements
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, network engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Minimum 05 years in a hands-on technical leadership role in airport ICT, airline IT, or a comparable mission-critical integration environment
• Demonstrable experience leading integration testing of multiple interfacing systems, including ownership of integration test strategy, test execution, defect management, and acceptance criteria
• Substantive experience working with MSI or systems integrator delivery models on a major programme
• Demonstrable depth in network engineering and database administration sufficient to lead and challenge vendor work in those domains
• Fluency in English
Nice to have
• Master's degree in a relevant technical discipline, or recognised technical certifications (CCNP, Oracle/MS SQL/PostgreSQL DBA, VMware, ISTQB)
• ITIL 4 Foundation or higher
• Hands-on experience with airport-specific systems (AODB, FIDS, CUPPS, BRS, A-CDM, BHS controls, biometrics, e-gates)
