POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Manager/Expert Corporate Strategy acts as an internal elite strategic advisor to the Board of Management. This critical role is responsible for leading the formulation of long-term corporate strategies, growth platforms, business transformations, and major corporate restructuring initiatives. The successful candidate will navigate complex business landscapes, architect group-level strategic roadmaps, lead cross-functional transformation projects, and establish governance to ensure strategy is seamlessly translated into measurable business results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Long-term strategy and growth direction development
- Lead or co-lead the formulation of the company's 3–5 year strategic blueprints and long-term horizons.
- Conduct deep-dive analysis on macroeconomics, industry trends, consumer behaviors, disruptive technologies, and competitive benchmarking to identify critical strategic issues.
- Architect strategic themes, growth platforms, strategic choices, and high-level corporate roadmaps for the company's next phase of development.
- Design and simulate strategic scenarios, investment priority frameworks, and corporate-level business model expansions.
- Advise the Board of Management on new business models, market entry strategies, category/channel expansion, and long-term competitive advantages.
Corporate Transformation & Restructuring Initiatives
- Drive large-scale strategic transformation programs that enable the organization to pivot toward new operational and commercial models.
- Evaluate and propose optimization for the organizational structure, operating model (TOM), delegation of authority (DOA), and governance across business units and functions.
- Formulate comprehensive transformation blueprints focused on revenue growth, business portfolio optimization, productivity enhancement, digital transformation, and customer experience.
- Partner closely with the C-suite and Heads of HR, Finance, Operations, Tech, and Commercial to ensure restructuring plans are viable, risk-managed, and outcome-driven.
Strategy Governance & Execution Management
- Establish and continuously improve the group-level corporate performance management framework (Strategic initiatives portfolio, OKRs/KPIs, milestones, resource allocation, and reporting mechanisms).
- Monitor execution progress, financial impact, and risks of flagship strategic projects; proactively flag bottlenecks or misalignments.
- Assess the alignment between corporate strategy, annual business plans, financial budgeting, and functional action plans.
- Prepare high-quality strategic reports and execution dashboards periodically for the Board of Management and Board of Directors.
- Drive, support, and push business blocks and functions to internalize and translate overarching corporate strategies into concrete, actionable functional action plans—ensuring that strategy is actively executed and does not merely remain as high-level directions or slogans
Strategic analysis and advisory to leadership
- Serve as the in-house subject matter expert for highly complex, ambiguous problems impacting growth, profitability, and competitive positioning.
- Lead advanced analytical streams, including Market Sizing, Profit Pool Analysis, Competitor Benchmarking, Customer Segmentation, Cost-to-Serve Analysis, and Store Network Optimization.
- Synthesize insights into polished executive decks, board papers, strategic memos, and business cases to support high-stakes decision-making.
- Provide objective, data-driven pushbacks and independent appraisals on strategic proposals submitted by various business units.
Capability Building & Strategic Framework Standardization
- Standardize corporate strategy frameworks, methodologies, and planning tools across the entire organization.
- Coach and mentor internal Strategy, PMO, and Transformation teams in structured thinking, business analytics, and executive communication.
- Foster a data-driven, long-term thinking, and highly aligned execution culture across all business blocks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Strategy, Marketing, Data Analytics, or other relevant disciplines.
- MBA, Master's degree, or professional certification in strategy, finance, data analytics, or project management is preferred.
- Proficient in English, with the ability to read professional reports, analyze market materials, and develop strategic documents in English. Ability to present, discuss, and challenge strategic topics in English is an advantage.
- Knowledge of retail management, consumer goods, omnichannel, digital transformation, CRM, loyalty, e-commerce, or supply chain.
- Deep understanding of retail business models, customer behavior, category management, sales channels, store operations, and digital transformation.
Experience
Professional experience
- Minimum 12-18 years of experience in corporate strategy, strategy consulting, corporate planning, business transformation, or equivalent roles.
- Proven experience in developing medium- and long-term strategies for large-scale companies, preferably in retail, consumer goods, jewelry, fashion, FMCG, e-commerce, or customer service industries.
- Experience in executing cross-functional strategic projects and working directly with the Executive Committee or senior leadership.
- Strong capability in market analysis, competitor analysis, financial modeling, business case development, strategic roadmap design, and performance tracking.
- Alumnus of Tier-1/Tier-2 strategy consulting firms or top-tier retail/FMCG/conglomerates.
Management experience
- Experience leading project teams or managing strategy/PMO specialists.
- Experience coordinating large-scale transformation programs or company-level strategic initiatives.
- Experience in a strategy consulting firm, a large retail group, or a company undergoing strong growth or transformation is an advantage.
