Senior Manager, Cell Site Modem Engineer

General Summary:

The role involves leading the development and delivery of next-generation (5G NR / 6G) Cellular Infrastructure products including Distributed Units (DU), Radio Units (RU), NTN solutions, Layer-1 PHY, infrastructure software, and system integration technologies.

This role combines deep technical leadership with people management responsibilities. The candidate will drive architecture, feature execution, product commercialization and cross-functional collaboration, while leading a high-performing engineering team.

The ideal candidate should possess strong modem/wireless systems expertise, excellent execution skills, excellent communication skills, proven leadership capability, and the ability to influence technically and organizationally across global teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Own delivery of critical product milestones, customer commitments, and commercialization objectives.
• Drive planning, execution, tracking, and operational excellence across multiple programs.
• Drive architecture reviews, design decisions, feature planning, and technical risk mitigation.
• Lead complex technical investigations requiring deep understanding of end-to-end wireless system behavior.
• Ensure scalable, high-quality software and system architectures.
• Manage and develop a team of highly skilled engineers
• Partner with global engineering teams across Qualcomm sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• 13+ years of work experience on embedded system software/firmware development and at least 5+ years of management experience is desirable.
• Good understanding in modem Base band, digital communications and signal processing, 3GPP specifications, ORAN spec.
• Experience in defining System Architecture and algorithm (specifically in LTE/5G base band modem receiver and transmitter) for PHY SW running on multi-core architecture.
• Experience in debugging modem design issues with specific exposure to LTE/5G-NR PHY algorithms.
• Experience in leading Physical layer design to commercialization.
• Proven track record of providing technical leadership and mentoring team members
• Direct people management experience of managing 5+ experienced engineers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or Communications Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

• 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
