Senior Machine Learning Engineer, AI Governance

About the Role 

VinSmart Future is building advanced AI-powered products and digital experiences across the Vingroup ecosystem. As our AI capabilities grow, we are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to help ensure that every AI product we design, build, deploy, and operate is safe, responsible, compliant, and aligned with AI ethics standards. 

This role is part of the Data and AI Compliance team, which is responsible for overseeing the compliance of the company's data practices and AI products. The team works across product, engineering, data science, legal, security, privacy, and leadership functions to ensure that data and AI systems are developed, used, and governed in accordance with internal policies, organizational AI ethics standards, and applicable Vietnamese laws and regulations. 

Key Responsibilities 

Review AI product designs, system architectures, model choices, training data, evaluation plans, deployment workflows, and monitoring strategies to identify safety, ethical, legal, and compliance risks before launch. Partner with legal, product and engineering teams to ensure new AI products align with internal AI ethics standards, Vietnamese AI laws, data protection requirements, and responsible AI best practices. 

Create, review, and continuously improve policies, standards, and operating procedures for responsible AI development and deployment. Design governance workflows for AI product intake, risk assessment, model review, data review, launch approval, incident response, third-party AI review, and periodic reassessment of deployed AI systems. 

Build and maintain a centralized inventory of AI assets across the company, including machine learning models, foundation models, datasets, AI pipelines, AI-enabled products, third-party AI tools, and production AI services. 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. 
• 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, AI platform engineering, applied ML, or AI product development. 
• Strong understanding of the ML lifecycle, including data collection, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, retraining, and incident response. 
• Strong software engineering skills and familiarity with modern ML frameworks. 
• Ability to review ML system designs and identify risks related to safety, privacy, bias, explainability, robustness, security, compliance, and misuse. 
• Experience working cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, data scientists, legal, privacy, security, or compliance stakeholders. 
• Ability to translate complex technical and regulatory concepts into clear guidance for engineering and product teams. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience in AI governance, responsible AI, AI safety, model risk management, privacy engineering, security engineering, or technology compliance. 
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks such as ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF, or similar responsible AI standards. 
• Experience designing AI evaluation frameworks for safety, quality, fairness, robustness, hallucination, explainability, privacy, or security. 
• Knowledge of Vietnamese AI and data protection regulations. 
• Experience building internal governance platforms, asset inventories, data catalogs, model registries, or compliance automation tools.
