About the Role
Masan Group is building a centralized Data organization that serves as an internal center of excellence across our business units — spanning retail, FMCG, supply chain, and F&B. The data foundation is mature and scaling: our Databricks-based platform and enterprise data warehouse are in production, and this year we expanded the org with a dedicated Agentic AI team focused on direct business value creation.
We're looking for a Senior or Lead Data Scientist who thrives on solving real, complex business problems — not just building models. You'll own solutions end-to-end, work with high-quality data at scale, and collaborate with Data Engineering, BI, and Agentic AI teams within the same org. The DS team's mandate is clear: deliver measurable impact to the business units we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders at WinCommerce, MCH, MML, and Phuc Long to frame and prioritize analytical problems — spanning demand planning, inventory optimization, pricing, promotion effectiveness, customer segmentation, and churn.
- Own end-to-end solution delivery: data exploration, feature engineering, modeling, deployment, and production monitoring — working closely with the Data Engineering team to access and structure data on the Databricks/Data Warehouse platform.
- Translate model outputs into business recommendations that stakeholders can act on — not just deliver accuracy metrics.
- Contribute reusable, well-documented features to the enterprise Feature Store, enabling cross-subsidiary reuse.
- Monitor model performance and business KPIs post-deployment; proactively detect drift and propose improvements.
- Collaborate at a working level with the Agentic AI team on use cases where ML and agentic approaches intersect.
- (Lead level) Provide technical mentorship to junior DS members; drive code and model review practices and contribute to team-wide DS standards.
Qualifications
Senior Level
- 4–6 years (Senior) / 6+ years (Lead) of applied data science experience in production environments — not research or pure analytics.
- Proven track record solving at least 2–3 of the following problem types in FMCG, Retail, or Supply Chain contexts: demand forecasting, inventory optimization, customer segmentation, churn prediction, pricing or promotion analytics, recommendation systems, or anomaly detection.
- Strong Python skills and solid ML fundamentals — knowing when to apply which approach and why, not just technical execution.
- Hands-on experience with big-data platforms such as Databricks, Spark, or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate findings clearly to non-technical business stakeholders — recommendations over jargon.
For Lead Level — Additional Expectations
- Demonstrated scope growth beyond individual contribution: cross-team coordination, technical ownership of DS workflows, or mentoring experience.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity across multiple business stakeholders simultaneously.
- Experience shaping team-level practices — feature engineering standards, model review, or tooling decisions.
Nice-to-Have
- Deep domain experience in modern retail — large-scale store networks, omnichannel operations, or loyalty programs (WinCommerce-equivalent context strongly preferred).
- Exposure to LLMs, embeddings, or agentic AI frameworks at a working level — sufficient for cross-team collaboration.
- MLOps familiarity: MLflow, FastAPI, Docker, or CI/CD workflows for ML.
