Job Description
Key Professional Expertise
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in advising clients on complex foreign investment matters in Vietnam, particularly in:
- Vietnamese Corporate Law (Enterprise Law and Investment Regulations)
- Regulatory and Compliance matters affecting foreign-invested enterprises
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality legal advisory services to international and foreign-invested clients.
- Advise clients on all legal matters relevant to foreign-invested entities and their operations in Vietnam.
- Liaise with relevant governmental authorities on licensing, regulatory approvals, and troubleshooting matters.
- Communicate with clients, counterparties, suppliers, and other stakeholders as required.
- Independently manage legal (and tax-related) projects.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor junior to mid-level lawyers and tax advisors.
- Review and control the quality of legal advice and work products delivered by the team.
- Train junior lawyers in both practical and theoretical aspects of advisory and transactional work.
- Perform additional legal and management tasks as required by firm leadership.
- Represent the firm in the market and contribute to business development and client acquisition initiatives.
The Successful Applicant
Candidate Requirements
A Vietnamese-qualified senior lawyer with 12-15 years of post-qualification experience, preferably gained in an international or cross-border legal environment. Prior experience with an international law firm is highly desirable.
Mandatory qualifications include:
- Degree from a reputable Vietnamese university.
- Admission to the Vietnam Bar (additional foreign bar admission is an advantage).
- Demonstrated experience handling complex cross-border legal matters.
- Excellent written and spoken Vietnamese and English (additional language skills are an asset).
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in international and multicultural teams.
- High levels of professionalism, integrity, and client-focus.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to take ownership of matters.
- Ability to manage multiple matters under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to make a long-term commitment to the firm and its clients.
