Senior Fullstack Software Engineer

Job Requirements:

We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to join our growing team. You'll become a core part of our small, highly agile team responsible for transforming our product. AB testing and test-measure-learn approaches are close to our heart, and you will work equally across figuring out solutions to user problems and scaling our technical systems.

You'll be someone who loves innovating and problem solving, and gets a kick out of working fast to develop prototypes and iterating to find the optimal result.

You'll work across our full tech stack — from back-end processes and APIs, through to front-end product built in React. We are in the middle of transforming and modernising our technology stack, and AI is at the centre of how we think about the future — both as a product capability and as a force multiplier for how we build and ship software.

You'll have the opportunity and be encouraged to contribute to new technology decisions, helping shape our strategy and adapting our architecture as we grow.

Required Skills and Experience

• Expertise and extensive experience in backend development using Python (5+ years), with a genuine eagerness to learn and adapt to new languages and technologies as our stack evolves.
• Hands-on experience with React.js — building component-based UIs, managing state, and integrating with REST APIs.
• Proven experience defining, implementing, and testing APIs, event handlers, and business logic.
• Production experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on experience using Docker in production, ideally with Kubernetes, Fargate, ECS, or EKS.
• Strong track record building, maintaining, testing, and documenting features for both internal and external developers.
• A practical, hands-on approach to using AI tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude) to enhance productivity and code quality.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to thrive in a highly innovative, fast-paced environment.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem.
• Experience with cloud monitoring systems such as Datadog.
• Experience with ElasticSearch, MongoDB, or similar.
• Familiarity with TypeScript alongside React, and frontend testing tools like Jest or React Testing Library.
• Prior experience with PHP in a production environment is a plus.
• A genuine passion for staying ahead of the curve on AI developments and applying them meaningfully in an engineering context.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with development teams and product managers to conceptualise and implement software solutions end-to-end.
• Build elegant, performant APIs and event handlers on the backend.
• Develop and maintain well-functioning datastores and services.
• Build and iterate on frontend features using React, delivering clean and responsive user interfaces.
• Proactively propose and implement improvements across the codebase — backend and frontend alike.
• Actively explore and integrate AI tooling into your day-to-day workflow to accelerate development, improve code quality, and reduce toil.
• Mentor other engineers to support their growth, including sharing best practices around AI-assisted development.
• Design and code solutions for systems handling a high volume of transactions per second.
• Collaborate with high-performing cross-functional teams to revolutionise the product.
