ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Live Payments is seeking a talented and experienced Full-stack Developer to join our growing/ multi-national team. Reporting directly to our Vietnam based Team Leader, the Full-stack Developer will work on developing and maintain our existing and future products.
Core duties include:
Frontend Development
- Develop and implement user interfaces using React.js, Next.js, and modern front-end technologies
- Build responsive, accessible UIs with CSS and Material-UI
- Troubleshoot and resolve end-user issues and optimise automated processes
Backend Development
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend APIs using Node.js (NestJS)/Golang
- Build and maintain high-performance, high-throughput services with strict reliability requirements
- Design and maintain scalable microservices capable of handling high transaction volumes
- Ensure idempotency, consistency, and fault tolerance across processing flows
- Implement robust error handling, retry strategies, and reconciliation processes
AI-Augmented Development & Collaboration
- Use agentic AI tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) daily to accelerate development, automate code reviews, and improve code quality
- Design effective prompts, workflows, and context strategies to maximise output from AI coding agents
- Identify and implement opportunities to integrate AI agents into development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and operational processes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify project requirements and recommend improvements
- Conduct code reviews with a strong focus on performance, security, and reliability
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including SRS and design documents
- Work closely with DevOps teams to improve observability, monitoring, and alerting
Required skills:
- At least 5 years of proven experience in full-stack development. Advanced proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript (ES6+), Node.js, React.js, Next.js, NestJS, or Golang.
- Strong expertise designing and integrating RESTful APIs and socket protocols, with sound backend architecture and applied security practices (authentication, authorisation, input validation, secrets handling).
- Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and transactional data modelling, plus working experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB.
- Practical understanding of timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, and idempotency; deep understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, and multithreading.
- Hands-on experience building and running services on AWS (Lambda and similar), GCP, or Azure, provisioned through Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent).
- Proven hands-on use of agentic AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor Agent, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent), not limited to chat-based AI use; able to design prompts, workflows, and context strategies that get reliable output from coding agents.
- Excellent communication with a strong command of English; demonstrated problem-solving, self-motivation, and effectiveness both independently and in a team.
Desirable skills:
- Experience with payment gateways, fintech, or financial systems; knowledge of AS2805, ISO 8583, ISO 20022, or equivalent message formats; knowledge of PCI DSS or payment security standards. Not required; we will train the right engineer on the domain.
- Strong understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices.
- Handling peak traffic, failover, and disaster recovery; rate limiting, throttling, and traffic shaping; performance profiling and optimisation.
