About Role:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to oversee the day-to-day facilities management and operational functions within our Data Center. This role is responsible for the continuous and efficient operation of all critical infrastructure supporting a mission-critical facility. This role involves hands-on management of power, cooling, mechanical, and safety systems, ensuring 100% uptime, energy efficiency, and strict compliance with operational and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Facility Operations & Maintenance: Oversee the day-to-day operation of critical infrastructure including:
- Power systems: UPS, switchgear, generators, PDUs, and electrical distribution panels.
- Cooling systems: CRAC units, chillers, HVAC, precision air conditioning, and liquid cooling.
- Building management systems (BMS/DCIM)
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve facility-related issues while minimizing downtime.
- Respond to emergency incidents and implement corrective actions efficiently.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure reliability and extend equipment lifespan.
2. Energy Management & Optimization
- Monitor Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and optimize energy efficiency across all facility operations.
- Implement cooling and power efficiency improvements to reduce operational costs and improve sustainability.
- Conduct load balancing and capacity planning for power and cooling distribution.
3. Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to Uptime Institute, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS and local safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential failures.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), and Method of Procedures (MOPs) for data center operations.
- Train and enforce safety protocols for all personnel working in the facility.
4. Physical Security Management
- Design, implement, and maintain a robust physical security framework for Data Centers, ensuring protection against unauthorized access, theft, and potential threats.
- Conduct regular security inspections, audits, and risk assessments to proactively identify vulnerabilities and implement mitigation strategies to enhance security resilience.
- Oversee the monitoring, maintenance, and technical optimization of Access Control, Surveillance & Monitoring (CCTV), and Intrusion Detection Systems.
5. Involve in Data Center build and expansion
- Actively participate in Data Center build and expansion projects from the planning phase to execution and commissioning.
- Conduct technical reviews and assessments of Data Center MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) system designs to ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and operational requirements.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems to verify they meet performance, safety, and sustainability requirements.
Requirements
1. Experience & Background
- Bachelor's or Engineering degree in Electrical/Power Engineering or Mechanical/Thermal Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in critical facility management (data center, telecommunications, industrial, or mission-critical environments), including at least 2 years in a Senior/Leader role.
- Hands-on experience in operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of power, cooling, mechanical, and safety systems.
- Experience in data center / critical infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and energy-efficiency projects is a plus.
- Experience working with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams for maintenance and project execution.
2. Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Electrical systems: UPS, switchgear, diesel generators (N+1), PDUs, circuit breakers, electrical distribution panels.
- Mechanical & cooling systems: HVAC, CRAC, chillers, precision cooling, liquid cooling, airflow management.
- Building monitoring systems: BMS and DCIM tools.
- Fire protection & safety: FM-200, VESDA, pre-action systems, emergency suppression, fire detection mechanisms.
- Security systems: access control, CCTV, intrusion systems.
- Facility maintenance & energy management: preventive/predictive maintenance programs, energy optimization, sustainability initiatives.
- Troubleshooting & emergency response: ability to diagnose and resolve critical failures, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions.
3. Soft Skills & Work Approach
- Leadership & decision-making: lead maintenance teams, manage vendors, drive operational improvements.
- Communication & reporting: technical documentation, incident reporting, compliance record-keeping.
- Problem-solving & attention to detail: analyze trends, predict risks/failures, implement proactive solutions.
- Availability & flexibility: on-call emergency response and shift work when required.
- Language: fluent English (additional languages are an advantage).
Preferred (Nice-to-have)
- 10+ years of experience in critical facility management (data center / telecommunications preferred).
- Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Uptime Institute certifications: ATD or AOS.
- CDCP (or equivalent/higher) certification.
- Professional certifications in power, cooling, or energy management (PMP, LEED, CFM, CEM, etc.).
