JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Expert, Airside Operations is a dual-mandate role that serves the Operations Core Team during the THINK and BUILD phase and transitions directly into the Phase operational organisation at airport opening as Senior Manager, Airfield Operations within the Airside Operations Department.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop the operational concept for airside operations at GBIA, including runway and taxiway operations, apron management, ground movement procedures and airside vehicle operations.
- Lead and contribute to the development of all airside operational procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Aerodrome Manual inputs relating to airfield operations.
- Establish the Airport FOD Management Programme, Apron Safety Programme, Wildlife Hazard Management Programme and Airside Works Control framework.
- Coordinate with the Director, Aviation Policy and Regulation to ensure all airside regulatory requirements, ICAO Annex 14 obligations and CAAV licensing prerequisites are met.
- Support aerodrome certification activities, providing airside operational inputs to regulatory submissions, compliance evidence and certification documentation.
- Contribute to the ORAT programme, leading airside trial operations, simulations and readiness assessments.
- Work in close collaboration with the daai international expert team, in particular the CONOPS, ORAT and Certification Teams, to assist in the delivery of their programmes and draw on global best practice in airfield operations management.
- Develop airside training frameworks and competency requirements for the future Airfield Operations team.
- Coordinate airside infrastructure readiness with technical and construction workstreams, ensuring operational requirements are captured in acceptance and commissioning processes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Airport Operations, Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Safety or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in airport operations, aerodrome operations or aviation safety, including at least 5 years of continuous service at an international airport.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing operational teams within a regulated aviation environment.
- Demonstrated experience in airfield inspections, aerodrome operations, airfield safety management and operational readiness activities.
- Experience supporting aerodrome certification, regulatory oversight and operational compliance requirements.
- Experience in greenfield airport development, ORAT or major airport commissioning programmes is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of ICAO Annex 14 requirements, aerodrome operations and airport operational standards.
Certifications & Licences:
- ICAO, ACI or equivalent Aerodrome Operations qualification preferred.
- Safety Management System (SMS) training certification preferred.
- Airside Driving Permit.
- ICAO Global Reporting Format (GRF) Management Training.
- Airside Safety Training.
- Incident Investigation or Operational Risk Management training desirable.
Language:
- English proficiency required.
