Salary range: Middle: Up to USD 1,800 gross | Senior: Up to USD 2,500 gross
RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a hands-on Senior DBA to take ownership of production database environments, drive performance and reliability, and act as a technical reference within a distributed team
This is a practical, operational role for someone comfortable with live environments, incidents, and optimization challenges
- Own and resolve production database incidents (performance issues, slow queries, replication lag, backup failures)
- Analyze and optimize MySQL / MariaDB environments in live systems
- Review database architectures and configurations, and implement improvements
- Monitor database health and proactively prevent issues
- Perform remote DBA audits and consultations for clients
- Work closely with system engineers on infrastructure and performance topics
- Support and mentor junior DBAs when needed
- Database administration, tuning, and optimization
- Advanced query analysis, indexing, and configuration reviews
- Backup, restore, and disaster-recovery strategies
- High availability and replication setups
- Automation of DBA tasks and operational improvements
- Participation in client technical calls and performance reviews
REQUIREMENTS
- Senior, autonomous, and hands-on.
- Comfortable taking decisions and owning complex topics end-to-end.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic mindset.
- Able to explain technical issues clearly to clients and teams.
- Used to working in remote, customer-facing environments
Tech stack:
- Databases: MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL
- Monitoring: PMM (Percona Monitoring & Management), Prometheus, Nagios
- Backup & Recovery: Percona (strong plus)
- Automation: Ansible, scripting (Python / Bash)
- OS: Linux
- Strong experience with Percona tools (XtraBackup, PMM, Percona Server) is a significant advantage
