ABOUT THE JOB
Responsible for the ongoing management and delivery governance of one or more end-to-end database and directory services supporting our team, incorporating Strategy, Design, Run, Provisioning & Deployment, Transition & Change, Consumption, Support, Delivery Performance & Quality, Capacity & Continuity, Issue & Risk Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and support enterprise database platforms (primarily PostgreSQL) in a highly available environment
- Perform database performance tuning, optimization and capacity management
- Support database deployments, upgrades and migrations across environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents in production (including on-call support)
- Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to improve reliability, scalability and automation
- Contribute to continuous improvement of database standards, practices and tooling
MANDATORY TECHNICAL SKILLS
- 7+ years experience as a DBA with PostgreSQL (or similar relational databases)
- Proven experience supporting high-volume, critical production systems
- Strong experience in enterprise directory and identity data platforms such as Active Directory, Ping Directory Services, Oracle Unified Directory, ForgeRock OpenDJ, or eTrust/CA Directory
- Solid experience in database performance tuning, troubleshooting and optimisation
- Experience managing large-scale, highly available production database systems
- Strong Linux/Unix system administration skills
- Experience with database deployment, migration and lifecycle management
NICE-TO-HAVE TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
- Knowledge of Identity & Access Management (OAuth, OIDC, LDAP, SAML)
- Experience with enterprise security concepts (TLS, PKI, networking)
- Scripting skills (Bash or similar)
