Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL, Power BI, Microsoft 365, and data modeling concepts (including fact & dimension tables, star and snowflake schemas). This role plays a key part in enabling enterprise-wide data accessibility and insights.
You should possess strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to write efficient queries while identifying defects. A collaborative mindset and passion for analytics, reporting, and data modeling best practices are essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Architecture & Modeling
- Design and implement robust data models using:
- Fact and dimension tables
- Star schema and snowflake schema
- Develop and maintain semantic layers and tabular models for reporting and analytics
2. ETL / ELT Development
- Build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines and data models using:
- Azure Synapse Analytics (serverless & dedicated pools)
- Azure SQL Databases
- Develop notebooks and data transformation processes
- Integrate data from multiple sources ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Use Python / PySpark for data transformation
3. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Create and maintain Power BI datasets, dashboards, and reports
- Optimize Power BI data models for performance and usability
4. Data Quality & Governance
- Implement best practices for data validation, cleansing, and transformation
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security compliance
- Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain data governance standards
5. Performance Optimization
- Tune SQL queries, indexes, and data models for efficiency
- Monitor and improve performance of ETL pipelines and reporting solutions
6. Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with business analysts, data scientists, and developers
- Support data-driven decision-making across teams
- Provide technical guidance on Azure data services and data modeling best practices
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Only for Viet Nam Candidates, no expat.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or similar role
- Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate) are highly desirable
Technical Skills
- Advanced SQL skills (query writing, stored procedures, performance tuning)
- Strong experience with: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database , Serverless & dedicated pools, PySpark / Spark transformations (MUST HAVE)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 (Azure, Power BI, Excel, SharePoint) (MUST HAVE)
- Proficient in Power BI (data modeling, DAX, report development, optimization)
- Strong understanding of: Fact & dimension tables, Star & snowflake schema design
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices
- Familiarity with Azure Data Lake or big data tools
- Experience in retail environment is a plus
- Knowledge of Dynamics 365 Commerce data model and Dataverse is a plus
