Your day at NTT DATA
As a Cloud Managed Services Engineer (L3) at NTT DATA, you'll play a key role in providing top-tier managed services to our clients. You will be responsible for proactively identifying and resolving cloud-based incidents and problems. By leveraging your deep technical expertise, you'll ensure our clients experience minimal disruptions and maximum efficiency. Your day will involve configuring, installing, testing, and managing client infrastructure to ensure it is always operational.
You will conduct necessary checks, apply monitoring tools, and respond to alerts, ensuring that problems are identified and logged promptly. Your role includes investigating third-line support calls, identifying the root cause of issues, providing on-site technical support, and collaborating with third-party vendors when necessary. Additionally, you will perform random reviews of incidents and service requests monthly, analyze them, and recommend ways to improve quality.
As part of your daily responsibilities, you will continuously provide feedback to clients, updating all necessary systems and portals. You will also proactively identify opportunities for work optimization, including automation.
When required, you may manage and implement projects within your technology domain, ensuring you meet client requirements and timelines effectively. Lastly, your role may include implementing and delivering disaster recovery functions and tests to ensure DATA protection and business continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical pre-sales support in articulating infrastructure design with in-depth product knowledge of at least two technology domains, focusing on computing, storage, EUC, virtualization, and networking.
- Drive solution sales by understanding clients technical needs and translating them into tailored solutions.
- Develop and maintain intermediate-level skills in public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Demonstrate strong expertise in technologies from AWS, Azure, GCP and other relevant vendors.
- Collaborate with sales teams to develop a well-informed infrastructure approach and monitor its implementation.
- Regularly assess and optimize infrastructure components, including hardware, software, and virtualized environments.
- Design and manage Cloud hybrid infrastructure solutions.
- Troubleshoot technical issues promptly and effectively.
- Assist with infrastructure migration and modernization strategies.
- Identify and recommend the best Cloud architecture options to align with the company's strategic goals.
- Translate project-specific requirements into scalable and efficient designs.
- Ensure the security and reliability of the Cloud environment.
- Provide training and support to teams interacting with the infrastructure.
- Monitor Cloud - infrastructure resource utilization and performance.
- Work with clients to understand their respective needs and implement solutions accordingly.
- Conduct migrations and upgrades as needed.
Mandatory Requirements:
- 4–6+ years of hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP; at least one primary platform).
- Strong experience designing, deploying, and operating production cloud infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure fundamentals: compute, networking, storage, and security.
- Hands-on experience with Hybrid Cloud environments (on‑premises to public cloud connectivity).
- Proven hands-on skills with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), including modules, state management, and multi-environment deployments.
- Experience with container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, or GKE).
- Japanese language proficiency at JLPT N2 or above (N1 highly preferred), capable of technical discussions with Japanese customers.
- Good English communication skills for technical documentation and collaboration.
Skillset Requirements:
- Experience designing enterprise-grade cloud architectures with high availability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of cloud networking: VPC/VNet design, subnetting, routing, firewalls/security groups, load balancers, VPN, and private connectivity.
- Experience in cloud migration projects (on‑premises to cloud, VM to container, or refactoring to managed services).
- Operational experience supporting cloud production environments, including incident handling and root cause analysis.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
- Understanding of GitOps concepts and tools such as FluxCD or ArgoCD is a strong plus.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools (Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
- Working knowledge of cloud security best practices, IAM/RBAC, secret management, and compliance awareness.
- Experience working as a technical contact or cloud engineer for Japanese enterprise customers is highly preferred.
- Ability to explain technical designs, risks, and options clearly to both technical teams and customers.
